Nell'ambito dell'iniziativa <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/intel\/ModernFW\">ModernFW<\/a><\/noindex> \u00e8 in corso il lavoro per creare una sostituzione scalabile e sicura dei firmware UEFI e BIOS. Il progetto \u00e8 ancora nelle fasi iniziali, ma nel prototipo proposto ci sono gi\u00e0 sufficienti funzionalit\u00e0 per organizzare il caricamento del kernel del sistema operativo. Il progetto si basa sui risultati di <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.tianocore.org\/\">TianoCore<\/a><\/noindex> (implementazione open source di UEFI) e restituisce le modifiche upstream.<\/p>\n<p>ModernFW \u00e8 progettato per fornire firmware minimalisti, adatti per l'uso su piattaforme a integrazione verticale, come i server per sistemi cloud. Su queste sistemi non \u00e8 necessario mantenere nel firmware il codice per garantire la retrocompatibilit\u00e0 e i componenti per usi generali, caratteristici dei tradizionali firmware UEFI. Eliminare il codice superfluo riduce il numero di possibili vettori per attacchi e errori, il che migliora la sicurezza e l'efficienza. Si sta inoltre lavorando per rimuovere dal firmware il supporto per tipi di dispositivi obsoleti e funzionalit\u00e0 che possono essere eseguite nel contesto del sistema operativo. <\/p>\n<p>Sono stati mantenuti solo i driver di dispositivo necessari e fornito un supporto minimo per dispositivi emulati e virtuali. Quando possibile, le operazioni che possono essere eseguite a livello di sistema operativo vengono trasferite a livello del sistema operativo. Parte del codice \u00e8 condiviso tra il firmware e il kernel del sistema operativo. \u00c8 fornita una configurazione modulare e personalizzabile. Il supporto per le architetture \u00e8 attualmente limitato ai sistemi x86-64, e tra i sistemi operativi caricabili \u00e8 supportato solo Linux (se necessario, pu\u00f2 essere implementato il supporto anche per altri sistemi operativi).<\/p>\n<p>Contemporaneamente, l'azienda Intel <noindex>ha presentato<\/noindex> progetto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/intel\/cloud-hypervisor\">Cloud Hypervisor<\/a><\/noindex>, nell'ambito del quale \u00e8 stato intrapreso un tentativo di creare un hypervisor basato sui componenti del<br \/>\nprogetto congiunto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rust-vmm\">Rust-VMM<\/a><\/noindex>, in cui oltre a Intel partecipano anche le aziende Alibaba, Amazon, Google e Red Hat. Rust-VMM \u00e8 scritto nel linguaggio Rust e consente di creare hypervisori specifici per determinate attivit\u00e0. Cloud Hypervisor \u00e8 uno di questi hypervisori, che fornisce un monitor virtuale ad alta livello (VMM) che opera sopra KVM ed \u00e8 ottimizzato per affrontare compiti caratteristici dei sistemi cloud. Nel contesto degli interessi di Intel, l'obiettivo principale di Cloud Hypervisor \u00e8 l'esecuzione di distribuzioni Linux moderne utilizzando dispositivi paravirtualizzati basati su virtio.<\/p>\n<p>Il supporto per l'emulazione \u00e8 ridotto al minimo (si punta sulla paravirtualizzazione). Attualmente sono supportati solo i sistemi x86_64, ma \u00e8 prevista anche la supporto per AArch64. Per eliminare codice superfluo e semplificare, la configurazione di CPU, memoria, PCI e NVDIMM avviene in fase di compilazione. \u00c8 prevista la possibilit\u00e0 di migrare macchine virtuali tra i server. Tra i principali obiettivi si menzionano: alta reattivit\u00e0, basso consumo di memoria, alta prestazione e riduzione dei potenziali vettori di attacco.<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
