L'idea comune di questi protocolli \u00e8 quella di combinare pi\u00f9 router in un unico router virtuale con un indirizzo IP condiviso. Questo indirizzo IP sar\u00e0 assegnato agli host come indirizzo del gateway predefinito. Una realizzazione aperta di questa idea \u00e8 il protocollo VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol). In questo articolo esamineremo le basi del protocollo VRRP.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/d9af3141a4b0573e206409ac6dbbd60f.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" name=\"habracut\"><\/a><\/noindex><br \/>\nI router VRRP si uniscono in un unico router virtuale. Tutti i router nel gruppo hanno un indirizzo IP virtuale (VIP) condiviso e un numero di gruppo comune o VRID (Virtual Router Identifier). Un router pu\u00f2 appartenere a pi\u00f9 gruppi, ciascuno dei quali deve avere la propria coppia unica VIP\/VRID.<\/p>\n<p>Nel caso di Cisco, il router virtuale \u00e8 definito sull'interfaccia di interesse con il comando:<\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"plaintext\">R1(config-if)# vrrp  ip<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>\nTutti i router sono divisi in due tipi: VRRP Master e VRRP Backup. <\/p>\n<p><b>VRRP Master<\/b> \u00e8 il router che si occupa dell'inoltro dei pacchetti per questo gruppo virtuale. <\/p>\n<p><b>VRRP Backup<\/b> \u2014 \u00e8 un router che attende pacchetti dal Master. Se i pacchetti dal Master smettono di arrivare, il Backup prova a passare allo stato di Master. <\/p>\n<p>Il router diventa Master se ha la priorit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 alta. Il Master invia costantemente messaggi all'indirizzo di broadcast 224.0.0.18 per informare i router Backup che \u00e8 attivo. Il Master invia i messaggi in base al timer Adver Timer, che di default \u00e8 di 1 secondo. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/c7a60362445dd9d89fec7bdbd2ff513d.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nIn questo caso, come indirizzo MAC del mittente viene utilizzato l'indirizzo del gruppo 00:00:5E:00:01:xx, dove xx \u00e8 il VRID in formato esadecimale. In questo esempio viene utilizzato il primo gruppo. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/5d16bcf86a6ce3c8ebe8c610dfe17156.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nSe i router Backup non ricevono messaggi per tre Adver Timer (Master Down Timer), il nuovo Master diventa il router con la priorit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 alta o il router con l'indirizzo IP pi\u00f9 elevato. In questo caso, il router Backup con priorit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 alta assume il ruolo di Master da quello con priorit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 bassa. Tuttavia, quando il Backup ha disattivata la modalit\u00e0 preempt, non assumer\u00e0 il ruolo dal Master. <\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"plaintext\">R1(config-if)# no vrrp  preempt<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>\nSe il router VRRP \u00e8 il proprietario dell'indirizzo VIP, assume sempre il ruolo di Master. <\/p>\n<p>Il valore della priorit\u00e0 VRRP va da 1 a 254. Il valore 0 \u00e8 riservato per i casi in cui il Master deve <i>rinunciare<\/i> alla responsabilit\u00e0 di instradare. Il valore 255 viene assegnato al router proprietario del VIP. La priorit\u00e0 predefinita \u00e8 100, ma pu\u00f2 essere impostata amministrativamente:<\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"plaintext\">R1(config-if)#vrrp  priority<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>\nQui possiamo vedere la priorit\u00e0 del router quando \u00e8 impostata amministrativamente:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1b7d6de438b7d44ee9ae1d4a9e4fb8ca.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nE qui \u00e8 riportato il caso in cui il router \u00e8 il proprietario del VIP:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/c593d3fa9dde81fb694b3e3cb0358444.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nUn router VRRP pu\u00f2 avere tre stati: Initialize, Backup, Master. Questi stati vengono cambiati in sequenza dal router. <\/p>\n<p>In stato di Initialize, il router attende l'inizio del funzionamento. Se questo router \u00e8 il proprietario dell'indirizzo VIP (priorit\u00e0 pari a 255), invia messaggi che indicano che diventa Master. Invia anche <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Address_Resolution_Protocol\">una richiesta ARP gratuita<\/a><\/noindex>, in cui l'indirizzo MAC di origine \u00e8 uguale all'indirizzo del router virtuale. Poi passa allo stato di Master. Se il router non \u00e8 proprietario del VIP, passa allo stato di Backup. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/faa6941e52a9edcef72022b75333fc03.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nIn stato di Backup, il router attende pacchetti dal Master. In questa condizione, il router non risponde a richieste ARP dall'indirizzo VIP. Inoltre, non accetta pacchetti destinati all'indirizzo MAC del router virtuale. <\/p>\n<p>Se il Backup non riceve messaggi dal Master durante il Master Down Timer, invia un messaggio VRRP segnalando che sta per diventare Master. Poi invia un messaggio VRRP in broadcast, in cui l'indirizzo MAC sorgente \u00e8 quello di questo router virtuale. In questo messaggio, il router specifica la sua priorit\u00e0.<\/p>\n<p>In stato di Master, il router gestisce i pacchetti indirizzati al router virtuale. Risponde anche alle richieste ARP per il VIP. Il Master diffonde messaggi VRRP ogni Adver Timer, per confermare che \u00e8 attivo. <\/p>\n<pre><code class=\"plaintext\">*May 13 19:52:18.531: %VRRP-6-STATECHANGE: Et1\/0 Grp 1 stato Init -&gt; Backup\n*May 13 19:52:21.751: %VRRP-6-STATECHANGE: Et1\/0 Grp 1 stato Backup -&gt; Master<\/code><\/pre>\n<p>\nVRRP consente anche di bilanciare il carico tra pi\u00f9 router. A tal fine, si creano due gruppi VRRP su un'interfaccia. A uno dei gruppi viene assegnata una priorit\u00e0 superiore rispetto all'altro. In questo modo, sul secondo router la priorit\u00e0 viene impostata in modo inverso. Cio\u00e8, se su un router la priorit\u00e0 del primo gruppo \u00e8 100 e quella del secondo gruppo \u00e8 200, sull'altro router la priorit\u00e0 del primo gruppo sar\u00e0 200 e quella del secondo 100. <\/p>\n<p>Come accennato in precedenza, ogni gruppo deve avere il proprio VIP unico. Di conseguenza, otteniamo due indirizzi IP gestiti da due router, ciascuno dei quali pu\u00f2 fungere da gateway predefinito. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/2f2246fd8e673a6fd64d4c74b0a79ce2.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nA met\u00e0 dei computer viene assegnato un indirizzo del gateway predefinito, all'altra met\u00e0 un altro. In questo modo met\u00e0 del traffico passer\u00e0 attraverso un router, mentre l'altra met\u00e0 attraverso l'altro. In caso di guasto di uno dei router, l'altro assume il carico di entrambe le VIP.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Il principio di funzionamento del protocollo VRRP\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/31501226c0cb7a668ced43e38791f1c3.jpg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\nIn questo modo, VRRP consente di organizzare la ridondanza del gateway predefinito, aumentando l'affidabilit\u00e0 della rete. Inoltre, utilizzando pi\u00f9 router virtuali, \u00e8 possibile bilanciare il carico tra i router fisici.
