Tuttavia, questo approccio ha una scarsa scalabilit\u00e0, poich\u00e9 le reti continuano a crescere, aumentando la potenza computazionale necessaria per sintonizzare le reti ottiche. Invece di ottimizzare dopo la produzione, Intel ha considerato la possibilit\u00e0 di addestrare i chip prima della fabbricazione, sfruttando architetture resistenti alle interferenze. Una rete neurale ottica di riferimento \u00e8 stata addestrata una sola volta, dopodich\u00e9 i parametri di addestramento sono stati distribuiti su diversi esemplari realizzati, con differenze nei loro componenti.<\/p>\n<p><center><\/center><\/p>\n<p>Il team di Intel ha valutato due architetture per costruire sistemi di intelligenza artificiale basati su MZI: GridNet e FFTNet. GridNet posiziona i MZI in modo prevedibile in una griglia, mentre FFTNet li dispone a forma di \u201cfarfalla\u201d. Dopo l'addestramento di entrambi sui modelli della rete di riferimento per il riconoscimento delle cifre scritte a mano (MNIST), i ricercatori hanno scoperto che GridNet ha raggiunto una maggiore precisione rispetto a FFTNet (98% contro 95%), ma l'architettura FFTNet si \u00e8 dimostrata \u201csignificativamente pi\u00f9 robusta\u201d.
