Nell'ambito del progetto VKHR<\/a><\/noindex> (Vulkan Hair Renderer) sviluppato con il supporto di AMD e RTG Game Engineering, \u00e8 un sistema di rendering realistico dei capelli, realizzato utilizzando l'API grafica Vulkan. Il sistema supporta il rendering in tempo reale durante la modellazione di acconciature composte da centinaia di migliaia di ciocche e milioni di segmenti lineari. Grazie alla variazione del livello di dettaglio, \u00e8 possibile bilanciare le prestazioni con la qualit\u00e0 di rendering. Supporta la visualizzazione di diversi tipi di acconciature e di pellicce. Il codice del progetto \u00e8 scritto in C++17 e \u00e8 distribuito<\/a><\/noindex> sotto licenza MIT.<\/p>\n

AMD ha precedentemente lavorato alla tecnologia di rendering dei capelli all'interno del progetto TressFX<\/a><\/noindex>, che utilizzava Direct3D. Nel progetto VKHR, quella tecnologia \u00e8 stata completamente riscritta sulla base di Vulkan ed estesa con la simulazione della diffusion di luce, ombre e trasparenza, implementata con shader GLSL. VKHR include un sistema integrato di tracciamento dei raggi, basato sulla libreria Embree<\/noindex> da Intel. Per l'anti-aliasing viene utilizzata una rapida trasformazione lineare, mentre per creare l'effetto volumetrico viene impiegato un veloce schema di voxelizzazione. I modelli di acconciature vengono caricati in formato hair<\/a><\/noindex>.<\/p>\n
