Molti sviluppatori del kernel, incluso Linus Torvalds, hanno gestito i propri blog su Google+ e, dopo la chiusura, hanno sentito la necessit\u00e0 di una piattaforma che consentisse di pubblicare di tanto in tanto note, in un formato diverso dalla mailing list LKML.<\/p>\n<p>Il servizio people.kernel.org \u00e8 costruito usando una piattaforma decentralizzata e open source <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/writefreely.org\/\">WriteFreely<\/a><\/noindex>, focalizzata sulla scrittura di blog e che permette di usare il protocollo ActivityPub per collegarli in una rete federata comune. La piattaforma supporta la formattazione dei contenuti in Markdown. Al momento, la possibilit\u00e0 di avere un blog su people.kernel.org \u00e8 riservata solo agli sviluppatori inclusi nella <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/tree\/MAINTAINERS\">lista dei maintainer<\/a><\/noindex>. Per chi non \u00e8 incluso in questa lista, \u00e8 possibile creare un blog solo ottenendo una raccomandazione da uno dei maintainer. <\/p>\n<p>Nota: Il server su cui \u00e8 ospitato people.kernel.org
