Da CoreOS Container Linux, che \u00e8 passato<\/a><\/noindex> \u00e8 passato a Red Hat dopo l'acquisizione dell'azienda CoreOS, in Fedora CoreOS sono stati trasferiti gli strumenti di distribuzione (sistema di configurazione all'avvio iniziale Ignition), il meccanismo di aggiornamenti atomici e la filosofia complessiva del prodotto. La partizione di sistema \u00e8 montata in modalit\u00e0 sola lettura e non viene modificata durante il funzionamento. Configurazione<\/a><\/noindex> viene passato durante il boot tramite l'insieme di strumenti Ignition (un'alternativa a Cloud-Init).
\nDopo che il sistema \u00e8 stato avviato, non \u00e8 possibile modificare la configurazione e il contenuto della directory \/etc; \u00e8 consentito solo modificare il profilo di configurazione e usarlo per sostituire l'ambiente. In generale, l'interazione con il sistema assomiglia a quella con le immagini dei container, che non vengono aggiornate in loco, ma ricostruite da zero e riavviate.<\/p>\n

L'immagine di sistema non \u00e8 divisibile e viene generata utilizzando la tecnologia OSTree (in un tale ambiente non \u00e8 possibile installare pacchetti separati, ma \u00e8 possibile ricompilare l'intera immagine del sistema, ampliandola con nuovi pacchetti tramite lo strumento rpm-ostree). Dopo la stabilizzazione, l'invio della telemetria sar\u00e0 attivato per impostazione predefinita (nella versione preliminare la telemetria \u00e8 attualmente disattivata) utilizzando il servizio fedora-coreos-pinger, che raccoglie periodicamente e invia ai server del progetto Fedora informazioni sul sistema che non permettono l'identificazione, come il numero della versione dell'OS e la piattaforma cloud utilizzata. Le informazioni trasmesse non contengono dati che possano portare a identificazione. Nella statistica vengono utilizzate solo informazioni aggregate, che consentono di avere una visione generale sull'uso di Fedora CoreOS.
