Azienda Canonical ha annunciato<\/a><\/noindex> la disponibilit\u00e0 in Ubuntu 19.10 di un'opzione per installare il sistema operativo utilizzando il file system ZFS sulla partizione di root. L'implementazione si basa sull'utilizzo del progetto ZFS on Linux<\/a><\/noindex>, fornito come modulo per il kernel Linux, che \u00e8 incluso di default nel pacchetto kernel a partire da Ubuntu 16.04. <\/p>\n

In Ubuntu 19.10, il supporto per ZFS sar\u00e0 aggiornato alla versione 0.8.1<\/a><\/noindex>, e nell'installatore della versione desktop verr\u00e0 aggiunta un'opzione sperimentale per applicare ZFS a tutte le partizioni, compresa quella di root. Le modifiche pertinenti verranno apportate a GRUB, inclusa l'aggiunta di un'opzione nel menu di avvio per ripristinare le modifiche utilizzando gli snapshot ZFS. <\/p>\n

Per la gestione di ZFS, \u00e8 in fase di sviluppo un nuovo demone zsys<\/a><\/noindex>, che permetter\u00e0 di eseguire pi\u00f9 sistemi paralleli con ZFS su un unico computer, automatizzando la creazione di snapshot e gestendo la separazione tra dati di sistema e dati modificabili durante la sessione utente. L'idea principale \u00e8 che diversi snapshot possono contenere stati diversi del sistema, consentendo di passare da uno all'altro. Ad esempio, in caso di problemi dopo l'installazione di aggiornamenti, sar\u00e0 possibile tornare a uno stato precedente e stabile selezionando un vecchio snapshot. Gli snapshot saranno anche utilizzati per la creazione automatica trasparente di backup dei dati utente.<\/p>\n
