Progetto EPEL<\/a><\/noindex> (Extra Packages for Enterprise Linux), responsabile del mantenimento del repository di pacchetti aggiuntivi per RHEL e CentOS, ha annunciato<\/a><\/noindex> sulla prontezza del repository EPEL 8 per il rilascio. Il repository \u00e8 stato formata<\/a><\/noindex> due settimane fa ed \u00e8 ora considerato pronto per l'implementazione. Attraverso EPEL, agli utenti delle distribuzioni compatibili con Red Hat Enterprise Linux viene offerto un set aggiuntivo di pacchetti da Fedora Linux, supportati dalle comunit\u00e0 Fedora e CentOS. Le build binarie sono prodotte per le architetture x86_64, aarch64, ppc64le e s390x.
\nAttualmente sono disponibili per il download 310 pacchetti binari (179 srpm). <\/p>\n

Fra le novit\u00e0 si segnala la creazione di un ulteriore canale epel8-playground, che funge da equivalente di Rawhide in Fedora e propone le versioni pi\u00f9 recenti di pacchetti in continuo aggiornamento, senza garanzia di stabilit\u00e0 e supporto. Rispetto alle versioni precedenti, in EPEL 8 \u00e8 stata aggiunta anche la supporto per la nuova architettura s390x, per la quale ora vengono creati pacchetti. In futuro non si esclude l'apparizione del supporto s390x anche in EPEL 7. I moduli non sono ancora supportati, ma si prevede di integrare il loro supporto al momento della creazione della versione EPEL-8.1 nel repository, il che consentir\u00e0 di utilizzarli come dipendenze nella creazione di altri pacchetti in EPEL.<\/p>\n
