La ricerca sulla compromissione della rete Tor si concentra principalmente sulla censura (blocco dell'accesso a Tor), sull'identificazione delle richieste tramite Tor nel traffico di transito e sull'analisi della correlazione dei flussi di traffico prima dell'ingresso nel nodo e dopo l'uscita dal nodo Tor per la deanonimizzazione degli utenti. Lo studio presentato dimostra che l'organizzazione di attacchi DoS su Tor \u00e8 trascurata e, con costi di poche migliaia di dollari al mese, \u00e8 del tutto realistico creare condizioni per interrompere il normale funzionamento di Tor, costringendo gli utenti a smettere di usare Tor a causa di scarse prestazioni.<\/p>\n<p>I ricercatori hanno proposto tre scenari per l'esecuzione di attacchi DoS: la creazione di ingorghi tra i nodi di ponte, lo sbilanciamento del carico e la creazione di ingorghi tra i relay, per i quali l'attaccante deve avere una larghezza di banda di 30, 5 e 3 Gbit\/s. In termini monetari, il costo di un attacco prolungato per un mese sar\u00e0 di 17, 2.8 e 1.6 mila dollari, rispettivamente. A titolo di confronto, eseguire un attacco DDoS diretto per interrompere il funzionamento di Tor richieder\u00e0 una larghezza di banda di 512.73 Gbit\/s e coster\u00e0 7.2 milioni di dollari al mese.<\/p>\n<p>Il primo metodo, con costi di 17 mila dollari al mese, attraverso un flood mirato su un set limitato di nodi di ponte con intensit\u00e0 di 30 Gbit\/s ridurr\u00e0 la velocit\u00e0 di caricamento dei dati per i clienti del 44%. Durante i test rimasero operativi solo 12 nodi di ponte obfs4 su 38 (non inclusi nelle liste pubbliche. <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/it\/server\/\"   title=\"server\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"1351\">server<\/a> I cataloghi vengono utilizzati per eludere il blocco dei nodi di sorveglianza, permettendo cos\u00ec di disattivare selettivamente i nodi di ponte rimasti operativi. Gli sviluppatori di Tor possono raddoppiare le spese di supporto e ripristinare il funzionamento dei nodi mancanti, ma per un attaccante sar\u00e0 sufficiente aumentare le proprie spese fino a 31.000 dollari al mese per attaccare tutti i 38 nodi di ponte.<\/p>\n<p>Il secondo metodo, che richiede 5 Gbit\/s per l'attacco, si basa su un'interferenza con il sistema di misurazione centralizzato della capacit\u00e0 di TorFlow, riducendo cos\u00ec la velocit\u00e0 media di caricamento dei dati da parte dei clienti dell'80%. TorFlow \u00e8 utilizzato per il bilanciamento del carico, il che consente, nel contesto dell'attacco, di violare la distribuzione del traffico e di organizzarlo attraverso un numero limitato di server, causando il loro sovraccarico.<\/p>\n<p>Il terzo metodo, che richiede solo 3 Gbit\/s, si basa sull'uso di un client Tor modificato per generare un carico parassitario, il che consente di ridurre la velocit\u00e0 dei download dei client del 47% con una spesa di 1.600 dollari al mese. Aumentando i costi dell'attacco a 6.300 dollari, \u00e8 possibile ottenere una riduzione della velocit\u00e0 dei download dei client del 120%. Il client modificato, invece di costruire la catena standard di tre nodi (nodo di ingresso, nodo intermedio e nodo di uscita), utilizza una catena di 8 nodi consentita dal protocollo con il numero massimo di hop tra i nodi, dopodich\u00e9 richiede il download di file di grandi dimensioni e interrompe le operazioni di lettura dopo aver inviato le richieste, ma continua a inviare comandi di controllo SENDME, istruendo i nodi di ingresso a continuare la trasmissione dei dati. <\/p>\n<p>Si osserva che l'avvio di un attacco di negazione del servizio \u00e8 significativamente pi\u00f9 efficace rispetto all'organizzazione di un attacco DoS tramite metodo Sybil a costi analoghi. Il metodo Sybil implica il posizionamento nella rete Tor di un gran numero di propri relay, sui quali \u00e8 possibile scartare le catene o limitare la larghezza di banda. Con un budget di attacco di 30, 5 e 3 Gbit\/s, il metodo Sybil consente di ottenere una riduzione delle prestazioni per il 32%, 7,2% e 4,5% dei nodi di uscita, rispettivamente. Mentre gli attacchi DoS proposti nello studio coprono tutti i nodi.<\/p>\n<p>Se si confrontano i costi con altri tipi di attacchi, un attacco di deanonimizzazione degli utenti con un budget di 30 Gbit\/s consentir\u00e0 di ottenere il controllo su 21% dei nodi in entrata e 5,3% dei nodi in uscita, con una copertura di tutti i nodi della catena in 1,1% dei casi. Per budget di 5 e 3 Gbit\/s, l'efficacia sar\u00e0 rispettivamente di 0,06% (4,5% in entrata, 1,2% in uscita) e 0,02% (2,8% in entrata, 0,8% in uscita).<\/p>\n<p><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\"
