Si segnala che ci vorr\u00e0 ancora circa un anno per perfezionare GTK 4 (GTK 4 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=44596\">si sviluppa<\/a><\/noindex> dalla met\u00e0 del 2016). Entro la fine del 2019, \u00e8 previsto un ulteriore rilascio sperimentale della serie GTK 3.9x, seguito nella primavera del 2020 dal rilascio finale di test di GTK 3.99, che includer\u00e0 tutte le funzionalit\u00e0 pianificate. Il rilascio di GTK 4 \u00e8 atteso all'inizio dell'autunno 2020, in concomitanza con GNOME 3.38.<\/p>\n<p>Prima del rilascio finale, \u00e8 necessario completare cinque modifiche funzionali pianificate, tra cui il lavoro per sostituire i widget fissi con visualizzazioni scalabili, una nuova API per l'animazione e la transizione degli effetti e degli indicatori di progresso delle operazioni, il completamento della revisione del sistema dei menu a comparsa (sviluppo di idee relative a sottomenu annidati e menu a discesa), la sostituzione del vecchio sistema di scorciatoie da tastiera con gestori di eventi e il perfezionamento della nuova API per le operazioni Drag&amp;Drop. <\/p>\n<p>Tra le funzionalit\u00e0 opzionali che si desidera integrare prima del rilascio di GTK 4, spiccano il widget &#171;UI designer&#187;, i miglioramenti agli strumenti di gestione delle barre superiori e un repository di widget, attraverso il quale sar\u00e0 possibile fornire widget sperimentali senza la necessit\u00e0 di integrarli nel core di GTK. Si menziona anche lo sviluppo di strumenti per il porting delle applicazioni su GTK4, come la preparazione di versioni compatibili delle librerie GtkSourceView, vte e webkitgtk, oltre a garantire il supporto per le piattaforme. Ad esempio, il sistema di rendering basato su OpenGL funziona bene su Linux, mentre quello basato su Vulkan richiede ancora affinamenti. In Windows, per il rendering viene utilizzata la libreria Cairo, ma \u00e8 in fase di sviluppo un'implementazione alternativa basata su <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/developer.android.com\/preview\/features\/angle.md\">ANGLE<\/a><\/noindex> (uno strato per la traduzione delle chiamate da OpenGL ES a OpenGL, Direct3D 9\/11, Desktop GL e Vulkan).
