La vulnerabilit\u00e0 ha preso il nome di checkm8 e permette di ottenere il completo controllo del dispositivo. L'exploit pubblicato pu\u00f2 potenzialmente essere utilizzato per bypassare la verifica dei firmware (Jailbreak), organizzare il dual boot di altri sistemi operativi e diverse versioni di iOS. <\/p>\n<p>Il problema \u00e8 notevole poich\u00e9 il Bootrom si trova nella memoria NAND accessibile solo in lettura, il che non consente di risolvere il problema nei dispositivi gi\u00e0 rilasciati (la vulnerabilit\u00e0 pu\u00f2 essere corretta solo nei nuovi lotti di dispositivi). Il problema si manifesta nei SoC da A5 ad A11, utilizzati in prodotti creati tra il 2011 e il 2017, partendo dall'iPhone 4S fino ai modelli iPhone 8 e X. <\/p>\n<p>Una versione preliminare del codice per sfruttare la vulnerabilit\u00e0 \u00e8 gi\u00e0 integrata negli strumenti open source (GPLv3) <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/axi0mX\/ipwndfu\">ipwndfu<\/a><\/noindex>, progettato per rimuovere il vincolo dai firmware Apple. L'exploit \u00e8 attualmente limitato alle funzionalit\u00e0 di creazione di dump di SecureROM, decifratura delle chiavi per i firmware con iOS e attivazione di JTAG. Il jailbreak automatizzato completo dell'ultima versione di iOS \u00e8 possibile, ma non \u00e8 ancora stato realizzato, poich\u00e9 richiede ulteriore lavoro. Attualmente, l'exploit \u00e8 gi\u00e0 adattato per i SoC s5l8947x, s5l8950x, s5l8955x, s5l8960x, t8002, t8004, t8010, t8011 e t8015, e in futuro sar\u00e0 ampliato con il supporto per s5l8940x,
