L'hypervisor supporta il funzionamento su sistemi x86_64 con estensioni VMX+EPT o SVM+NPT (AMD-V), cos\u00ec come su processori ARMv7 e ARMv8\/ARM64 con estensioni per la virtualizzazione. Separatamente <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/siemens\/jailhouse-images\">si sviluppa<\/a><\/noindex> generatore di immagini per l'hypervisor Jailhouse, creati sulla base di pacchetti Debian per dispositivi supportati. Il codice del progetto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/siemens\/jailhouse\">distribuito<\/a><\/noindex>  \u00e8 sotto licenza GPLv2. <\/p>\n<p>L'hypervisor \u00e8 implementato come modulo per il kernel Linux e fornisce virtualizzazione a livello di kernel. I componenti per i sistemi guest sono gi\u00e0 inclusi nel kernel Linux principale. Per gestire l'isolamento si utilizzano i meccanismi hardware di virtualizzazione forniti dai moderni CPU. Le caratteristiche distintive di Jailhouse includono un'implementazione leggera e l'orientamento al binding delle macchine virtuali a CPU fisse, aree di RAM e dispositivi hardware. Questo approccio consente di garantire su un unico server multiprocessore fisico il funzionamento di diversi ambienti virtuali indipendenti, ciascuno dei quali \u00e8 assegnato al proprio core di CPU. <\/p>\n<p>Con un legame stretto con la CPU, le spese generali del hypervisor si riducono al minimo e la sua implementazione diventa molto pi\u00f9 semplice, poich\u00e9 non \u00e8 necessario eseguire un complesso pianificatore di risorse \u2014 dedicare un core della CPU consente di garantire che su quella CPU non vengano eseguite altre attivit\u00e0. Un vantaggio di questo approccio \u00e8 la possibilit\u00e0 di fornire accesso garantito alle risorse e prestazioni prevedibili, rendendo Jailhouse una soluzione adatta per la creazione di compiti eseguiti in tempo reale. Tuttavia, il difetto \u00e8 una scalabilit\u00e0 limitata, che si scontra con il numero di core della CPU.<\/p>\n<p>Nella terminologia di Jailhouse, gli ambienti virtuali sono chiamati \u00abcelle\u00bb (cell, nel contesto di jailhouse).
