Mozilla Thunderbird sta per ricevere un importante aggiornamento, che introdurr\u00e0 la crittografia integrata delle email utilizzando OpenPGP. Sar\u00e0 possibile rinunciare a supplementi come Enigmail e Mailvelope. L'implementazione della crittografia si basa sui lavori dello supplemento Enigmail, il cui autore sta anche assistendo il team di Mozilla nel trasferire le funzionalit\u00e0 al client di posta.<\/p>\n

La principale differenza sar\u00e0 che, invece di utilizzare il programma esterno GnuPG, si propone di utilizzare una propria implementazione della libreria OpenPGP.<\/p>\n

Verr\u00e0 anche offerta una propria gestione delle chiavi, che non \u00e8 compatibile con il formato dei file delle chiavi GnuPG e sar\u00e0 protetta da una password principale, utilizzata per la protezione di account e chiavi S\/MIME.<\/p>\n
