Nelle versioni sperimentali <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/blogs.windows.com\/windowsexperience\/2019\/10\/29\/announcing-windows-10-insider-preview-build-19013\/#AQOe707gGHhcfyYd.97\">Windows Insider<\/a><\/noindex> (build 19013) nell'interfaccia WSL2 \u00e8 stata introdotta la supporto per il recupero della memoria (Memory Reclamation), liberata dai processi in esecuzione nell'ambiente basato sul kernel Linux. <\/p>\n<p>In precedenza, in caso di aumento del consumo di memoria da parte delle applicazioni o del kernel, la memoria veniva allocata alla macchina virtuale WSL2, ma rimaneva quindi bloccata e non veniva restituita al sistema, anche dopo il completamento di un processo ad alta intensit\u00e0 di risorse e in assenza di ulteriori necessit\u00e0 di memoria allocata. Il meccanismo di Memory Reclamation consente di restituire la memoria liberata al sistema operativo principale e di ridurre automaticamente la dimensione della memoria della macchina virtuale. In questo modo, viene restituita non solo la memoria liberata dai processi utente, ma anche quella utilizzata per la cache nel kernel Linux. Ad esempio, in caso di alta attivit\u00e0 su disco, aumenta la dimensione della cache di paging, in cui si accumulano i contenuti dei file durante il funzionamento del file system. Dopo aver eseguito &#171;echo 1 &gt; \/proc\/sys\/vm\/drop_caches&#187;, \u00e8 possibile svuotare la cache e restituire la memoria al sistema operativo principale.<\/p>\n<p>L'implementazione di Memory Reclamation si basa su<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/patchwork.kernel.org\/project\/linux-mm\/list\/?series=181011\">una patch<\/a><\/noindex>, proposta dagli ingegneri Intel per essere inclusa nel kernel Linux principale con l'obiettivo di espandere le funzionalit\u00e0 del driver virtio-balloon e del sistema di gestione della memoria. La patch \u00e8 progettata per essere utilizzata in qualsiasi sistema guest per restituire le pagine di memoria inutilizzate al sistema host e pu\u00f2 essere applicata con vari hypervisor. Nel caso di WSL2, la patch \u00e8 adattata per restituire la memoria all'hypervisor Hyper-V.<\/p>\n<p>Ricordiamo che la seconda edizione di WSL <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=50637\">si distingue<\/a><\/noindex> prevede la fornitura di un kernel Linux completo al posto di un emulatore che trasforma sistematicamente le chiamate di sistema Linux in chiamate di sistema Windows.
