La base di OpenTitan si fonda su tecnologie gi\u00e0 utilizzate in token USB crittografici <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/cloud.google.com\/titan-security-key\/\">Google Titan<\/a><\/noindex>  e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/2018.osfc.io\/uploads\/talk\/paper\/7\/gsc_copy.pdf\">chip TPM<\/a><\/noindex> per garantire un avvio verificato, installati su server nell'infrastruttura di Google, cos\u00ec come su dispositivi Chromebook e Pixel. Il codice e le specifiche dei componenti hardware associati al progetto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lowRISC\/opentitan\">pubblicati<\/a><\/noindex> sono disponibili su GitHub con licenza Apache 2.0.<\/p>\n<p>A differenza delle attuali implementazioni della Root of Trust, il nuovo progetto si sviluppa secondo il concetto di \"sicurezza attraverso la trasparenza\", che implica un processo di sviluppo completamente aperto e la disponibilit\u00e0 del codice e degli schemi. OpenTitan pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato come una base gi\u00e0 pronta, collaudata e affidabile, che consente di aumentare la fiducia nelle soluzioni create e ridurre i costi nello sviluppo di chip specializzati per la sicurezza. OpenTitan si svilupper\u00e0 in una piattaforma indipendente come progetto collaborativo, non legato a fornitori e produttori di chip specifici. <\/p>\n<p>Lo sviluppo di OpenTitan sar\u00e0 guidato da un'organizzazione non profit  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lowrisc.org\/\">lowRISC<\/a><\/noindex>, che sviluppa un microprocessore open source basato sull'architettura RISC-V. Gi\u00e0 aziende come G+D Mobile Security, Nuvoton Technology e Western Digital, insieme all'ETH di Zurigo e all'Universit\u00e0 di Cambridge, hanno collaborato al progetto OpenTitan, ricercatori della quale stanno sviluppando un'architettura di processore sicura <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cl.cam.ac.uk\/research\/security\/ctsrd\/cheri\/\">CHERI<\/a><\/noindex> (Capability Hardware Enhanced RISC Instructions) e recentemente <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cst.cam.ac.uk\/news\/cambridge-collaborates-arm-improve-computer-security\">supporto per il metodo ariaNotify() (mette una stringa di testo in coda per la sintesi vocale da parte dello screen reader, offrendo un'alternativa pi\u00f9 ergonomica e affidabile<\/a><\/noindex> ha ricevuto un finanziamento di 190 milioni di euro per adattare le tecnologie correlate ai processori ARM e per la creazione di un prototipo della nuova piattaforma hardware Morello.<\/p>\n<p> Il progetto OpenTitan copre lo sviluppo di vari componenti logici richiesti nei chip RoT, incluso il microprocessore open source <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lowRISC\/ibex\/\">lowRISC Ibex<\/a><\/noindex> basato sull'architettura RISC-V, coprocessori crittografici, generatore hardware di numeri casuali, gerarchia di archiviazione di chiavi e dati in memoria permanente e volatile, meccanismi di protezione, blocchi di input\/output, strumenti di avvio sicuro e cos\u00ec via. OpenTitan pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato dove \u00e8 necessario garantire l'integrit\u00e0 dei componenti hardware e software del sistema, assicurando che i componenti critici del sistema non siano stati manomessi e si basino su un codice verificato e autorizzato dal produttore. <\/p>\n<p>I chip basati su OpenTitan possono essere utilizzati in<br \/>\nschede madri per server, schede di rete, dispositivi di consumo, router, dispositivi Internet of Things per la verifica dei firmware (rilevamento di eventuali modifiche al firmware da parte di malware), fornitura di un identificatore di sistema crittograficamente unico (protezione contro la manomissione dell'hardware), protezione delle chiavi crittografiche (isolamento delle chiavi in caso di accesso fisico non autorizzato
