Il distributore si basa sulla codebase del progetto Illumos, che a sua volta continua lo sviluppo di OpenSolaris nel campo del kernel, dello stack di rete, dei file system, dei driver e di altri componenti del sistema operativo.<\/p>\n

Il distributore pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato sia come sistema operativo di uso generale che per la costruzione di sistemi di archiviazione altamente scalabili.<\/p>\n

Il sistema ha un supporto completo per i hypervisor KVM e Bhyve, per lo stack di rete virtuale Crossbow e per il file system ZFS. <\/p>\n

Tra le nuove funzionalit\u00e0 si possono notare significativi miglioramenti nel supporto SMB\/CIFS nel kernel (sono state implementate molte estensioni smb3), in ZFS \u00e8 stato aggiunto il supporto per la memorizzazione di dati e metadati in forma crittografata, nei container LX zones \u00e8 stato aggiunto il supporto per nuove distribuzioni Linux, \u00e8 stato introdotto il supporto per algoritmi di controllo della congestione TCP, \u00e8 stata ottimizzata la prestazione dell'hypervisor Bhyve e \u00e8 stato aggiunto il supporto per l'emulazione di dispositivi NVME.<\/p>\n
