Il progetto LinuxBoot esiste da quasi due anni e in questo periodo ha raggiunto traguardi significativi. Questo progetto si propone come un'alternativa open source ai firmware proprietari UEFI. Nell'ambito di LinuxBoot, si sviluppano tutti i componenti correlati al kernel Linux, senza essere legati a un runtime specifico. Questo permetter\u00e0 di bloccare l'attivit\u00e0 di background di UEFI, SMM e Intel ME, aumentando la protezione, poich\u00e9 spesso i firmware proprietari sono pieni di \"vulnerabilit\u00e0\" e punti deboli in termini di sicurezza.<\/p>\n

Inoltre, secondo alcune fonti, LinuxBoot consente di accelerare il caricamento del server di decine di volte grazie all'eliminazione del codice non utilizzato e a vari tipi di ottimizzazioni. Tuttavia, i produttori sono ancora riluttanti a passare a LinuxBoot.
