I ricercatori ritengono che ora tutti gli attacchi pratici su MD5 possano essere applicati anche a SHA-1, sebbene richiedano ancora risorse significative per essere attuati.<\/p>\n<p>Il metodo si basa sull'effettuazione <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/ru.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%B0#%D0%9A%D0%BE%D0%BB%D0%BB%D0%B8%D0%B7%D0%B8%D0%BE%D0%BD%D0%BD%D0%B0%D1%8F_%D0%B0%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BA%D0%B0_%D1%81_%D0%B7%D0%B0%D0%B4%D0%B0%D0%BD%D0%BD%D1%8B%D0%BC_%D0%BF%D1%80%D0%B5%D1%84%D0%B8%D0%BA%D1%81%D0%BE%D0%BC\">di un attacco di collisione con prefisso fornito<\/a><\/noindex>, consentendo di trovare integrazioni per due set di dati arbitrari che, se collegate, genererebbero set in collisione, l'uso dell'algoritmo SHA-1 porterebbe a formare lo stesso hash risultante. In altre parole, per due documenti esistenti \u00e8 possibile calcolare due integrazioni, e se una viene unita al primo documento e l'altra al secondo \u2014 gli hash SHA-1 risultanti per questi file saranno identici.<\/p>\n<p>Il nuovo metodo si distingue dalle tecniche simili proposte in precedenza per l'aumento dell'efficienza nella ricerca di collisioni e per la dimostrazione di un'applicazione pratica in un attacco a PGP. In particolare, i ricercatori sono riusciti a preparare due chiavi pubbliche PGP di dimensioni diverse (RSA-8192 e RSA-6144) con identificatori utente differenti e certificati che provocano collisioni SHA-1. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sha-mbles.github.io\/bob.asc\">La prima chiave<\/a><\/noindex> inclusa l'identificatore della vittima, e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/sha-mbles.github.io\/alice.asc\">la seconda chiave<\/a><\/noindex> inclusa il nome e l'immagine dell'attaccante. Grazie alla selezione della collisione, il certificato identificativo contenente la chiave e l'immagine dell'attaccante aveva lo stesso hash SHA-1 del certificato identificativo contenente la chiave e il nome della vittima. <\/p>\n<p>L'attaccante poteva richiedere una firma digitale per la sua chiave e la sua immagine a un'autorit\u00e0 di certificazione di terze parti, dopodich\u00e9 trasferire la firma digitale per la chiave della vittima. La firma digitale rimane valida a causa della collisione e della convalida della chiave dell'attaccante da parte dell'autorit\u00e0 di certificazione, permettendo all'attaccante di ottenere il controllo anche sulla chiave con il nome della vittima (poich\u00e9 l'hash SHA-1 per entrambe le chiavi coincide). In conclusione, l'attaccante pu\u00f2 spacciarsi per la vittima e firmare qualsiasi documento a suo nome.<\/p>\n<p>L'attacco rimane ancora piuttosto costoso, ma \u00e8 ormai alla portata di servizi segreti e grandi corporazioni. Per un semplice tentativo di collisione usando una GPU NVIDIA GTX 970 pi\u00f9 economica, i costi ammontavano a 11 mila dollari, mentre per tentare una collisione con un prefisso specifico \u2014 a 45 mila dollari (per confronto, nel 2012 i costi per il calcolo di una collisione in SHA-1 erano stimati in 2 milioni di dollari, e nel 2015 \u2014 700 mila). Per effettuare un attacco pratico su PGP sono stati necessari due mesi di calcoli con l'uso di 900 GPU NVIDIA GTX 1060, il cui noleggio \u00e8 costato ai ricercatori 75 mila dollari.<\/p>\n<p>Il metodo di rilevamento delle collisioni proposto dai ricercatori \u00e8 circa 10 volte pi\u00f9 efficace rispetto ai risultati precedenti \u2014 il livello di difficolt\u00e0 per il calcolo delle collisioni \u00e8 stato ridotto a 261.2 operazioni, invece di 264.7, e quello per collisioni con un prefisso specifico a 263.4 operazioni invece di 267.1. I ricercatori raccomandano di passare il prima possibile da SHA-1 a SHA-256 o SHA-3, poich\u00e9 prevedono che nel 2025 il costo per condurre un attacco scender\u00e0 a 10 mila dollari.<\/p>\n<p>Gli sviluppatori di GnuPG sono stati informati del problema il 1\u00b0 ottobre (CVE-2019-14855) e il 25 novembre, nella versione GnuPG 2.2.18, hanno preso provvedimenti per bloccare i certificati problematici \u2014 tutte le firme digitali SHA-1 create dopo il 19 gennaio dell'anno scorso sono ora considerate non valide. CAcert, uno dei principali centri di certificazione per le chiavi PGP, prevede di passare all'uso di funzioni hash pi\u00f9 sicure per la certificazione delle chiavi. Gli sviluppatori di OpenSSL, in risposta alle informazioni su un nuovo metodo di attacco, hanno deciso di disabilitare SHA-1 nel primo livello di sicurezza proposto di default (SHA-1 non potr\u00e0
