WireGuard \u00e8 una VPN di nuova generazione che utilizza la crittografia moderna. \u00c8 stato progettato inizialmente come un'alternativa pi\u00f9 semplice e conveniente alle VPN esistenti. L'autore \u00e8 Jason A. Donenfeld, un esperto canadese di sicurezza informatica. Nel agosto 2018, WireGuard <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/lists.openwall.net\/netdev\/2018\/08\/02\/124\">ha ricevuto elogi<\/a><\/noindex> da Linus Torvalds. Circa in quel periodo \u00e8 iniziato il lavoro per includere la VPN nel kernel di Linux. Il processo ha richiesto un po' di tempo.<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" name=\"habracut\"><\/a><\/noindex><br \/>\n\u00abVedo che Jason ha fatto una richiesta di pull per includere WireGuard nel kernel\u00bb, scrisse Linus il 2 agosto 2018. \u00abPosso solo ribadire il mio amore per questa VPN e sperare in una fusione imminente? Forse il codice non \u00e8 perfetto, ma l'ho esaminato e, rispetto agli orrori di OpenVPN e IPSec, \u00e8 davvero un capolavoro\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>Nonostante il desiderio di Linus, la fusione si \u00e8 protratta per un anno e mezzo. Il problema principale si \u00e8 rivelato essere l'integrazione con le proprie implementazioni delle funzioni crittografiche, utilizzate per migliorare le prestazioni. Tuttavia, si \u00e8 deciso di separare le funzioni crittografiche native di WireGuard in un API a basso livello chiamato Zinc e di portarle nel kernel nel tempo. A novembre, gli sviluppatori del kernel hanno mantenuto la promessa e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/lists.zx2c4.com\/pipermail\/wireguard\/2019-November\/004614.html\">hanno concordato<\/a><\/noindex> di trasferire nel kernel principale parte del codice da Zinc. Lo scambio delle chiavi pubbliche per l'instaurazione della connessione avviene in modo simile a SSH. Per la sincronizzazione delle chiavi e la connessione senza l'avvio di un demone separato nello spazio utente viene impiegato il meccanismo Noise_IK del <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/noiseprotocol.org\/\">Noise Protocol Framework<\/a><\/noindex>, simile alla gestione di authorized_keys in SSH. La trasmissione dei dati avviene tramite incapsulamento in pacchetti UDP. \u00c8 supportato il cambio dell'indirizzo IP del server VPN (roaming) senza interruzione della connessione con ri-configurazione automatica del client, \u2014 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=51997\">scrive<\/a><\/noindex> Opennet.<\/p>\n<p>Per la crittografia <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wireguard.io\/protocol\/\">viene utilizzato<\/a><\/noindex> il cifrario a flusso <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/cr.yp.to\/chacha.html\">ChaCha20<\/a><\/noindex> e l'algoritmo di autenticazione dei messaggi (MAC) <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/cr.yp.to\/mac.html\">Poly1305<\/a><\/noindex>, sviluppati da Daniel Bernstein (<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/cr.yp.to\/djb.html\">Daniel J. Bernstein<\/a><\/noindex>), Tanja Lange e Peter Schwabe. ChaCha20 e Poly1305 sono presentati come equivalenti pi\u00f9 veloci e sicuri rispetto ad AES-256-CTR e HMAC, la cui implementazione software permette di raggiungere un tempo di esecuzione fisso senza l'uso di supporto hardware speciale. Per generare la chiave segreta condivisa viene utilizzato il protocollo Diffie-Hellman sulle curve ellittiche. <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"http:\/\/cr.yp.to\/ecdh.html\">Curve25519<\/a><\/noindex>, proposta anche da Daniel Bernstein. Ma nella realt\u00e0, potrebbe non essere cos\u00ec a causa del passaggio alle funzioni crittografiche integrate nel kernel del Crypto API. \u00c8 possibile che non tutte siano ancora ottimizzate al livello di prestazioni di WireGuard nativo.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u00abDal mio punto di vista, WireGuard \u00e8 ideale per l'utente. Questa semplicit\u00e0 d'uso e la compattezza del codice sono state ottenute rinunciando alla distribuzione delle chiavi. Non c'\u00e8 un complesso sistema di certificati e tutte queste complicazioni aziendali, le chiavi di crittografia brevi vengono distribuite in modo simile alle chiavi SSH\u00bb.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\nIl progetto WireGuard \u00e8 in sviluppo dal 2015, ha superato un audit e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wireguard.com\/formal-verification\/\">la verifica formale<\/a><\/noindex>.
