Drew DeVault, autore dell'ambiente utente Sway<\/a><\/noindex> e del client di posta Aerc<\/a><\/noindex>, per divertimento ho provato a preparare un'implementazione di Git scritta in POSIX Shell. L'idea \u00e8 emersa dopo una discussione sulla complessit\u00e0 della struttura interna di Git, dopo di che Drew ha deciso di dimostrare le sue argomentazioni scrivendo in un giorno una versione funzionante di Git in puro Shell. Durante il lavoro, Drew ha capito che si era un po' affrettato nelle sue affermazioni sulla semplicit\u00e0 a causa dell'uso del formato binario dell'indice in Git, per il quale lo Shell non \u00e8 del tutto adatto. Ma era troppo tardi per tornare indietro e, dopo diverse contorsioni, \u00e8 riuscito a implementare Git su Shell. <\/p>\n

Il progetto ha ricevuto il nome shit<\/a><\/noindex> (Shell Git) e si posiziona esclusivamente come esperimento per esplorare gli interni di Git, non destinato a un uso pratico. Oltre alle costruzioni definite nel POSIX Shell, nel codice sono stati utilizzati alcuni estensioni GNU funzionanti in BusyBox. \u00c8 inoltre necessaria la libreria zlib. La funzionalit\u00e0 preparata \u00e8 sufficiente per effettuare un commit in un repository git.
