L'azienda iXsystems ha annunciato<\/a><\/noindex> si unisce per un rapido deployment di storage di rete (NAS, Network-Attached Storage). La distribuzione gratuita FreeNAS<\/a><\/noindex> verr\u00e0 unita al progetto commerciale TrueNAS<\/a><\/noindex>, ampliando le funzionalit\u00e0 di FreeNAS per le imprese e preinstallato sui sistemi di storage prodotti da iXsystems.<\/p>\n

Per motivi storici, FreeNAS e TrueNAS sono stati sviluppati, testati e rilasciati separatamente, nonostante l'ampio codice condiviso. L'unificazione dei progetti ha richiesto un lavoro considerevole per armonizzare i sistemi di build della distribuzione e dei pacchetti. Nella versione 11.3<\/a><\/noindex> il codice di TrueNAS ha raggiunto la parit\u00e0 con FreeNAS per quanto riguarda il supporto di plugin e ambienti virtuali, e la quantit\u00e0 di codice condiviso ha superato il 95%, rendendo possibile passare al lavoro sulla fusione finale dei progetti. <\/p>\n

Nella versione 12.0, attesa nella seconda met\u00e0 dell'anno, FreeNAS e TrueNAS saranno uniti e presentati con il nome comune di 'TrueNAS Open Storage'. Gli utenti avranno a disposizione due edizioni: TrueNAS CORE e TrueNAS Enterprise. FreeNAS si basa su una codebase FreeBSD, offre un supporto integrato per ZFS e un ponte di gestione tramite interfaccia web, costruita utilizzando il framework Python Django.
