Nell'ambito del progetto NsCDE<\/a><\/noindex> (Not so Common Desktop Environment) sviluppa un ambiente desktop che offre un'interfaccia retro in stile CDE<\/a><\/noindex> (Common Desktop Environment), adattato per l'uso su sistemi Unix-like moderni e Linux. L'ambiente \u00e8 basato sul gestore di finestre FVWM<\/a><\/noindex> con temi, applicazioni, patch e estensioni per ricreare il desktop originale CDE. Il codice del progetto distribuito<\/a><\/noindex> \u00e8 sotto licenza GPLv3. Estensioni sono scritti<\/a><\/noindex> in Python e Shell.<\/p>\n

L'obiettivo del progetto \u00e8 fornire un ambiente confortevole e piacevole per gli amanti dello stile retro, che supporti le tecnologie moderne senza risultare scomodo a causa della mancanza di funzionalit\u00e0. Per dare uno stile CDE alle applicazioni utente avviate, sono stati preparati generatori di temi per Xt, Xaw, Motif, GTK2, GTK3, Qt4 e Qt5, permettendo di stilizzare la maggior parte dei programmi che utilizzano X11 secondo un'interfaccia retro. NsCDE consente di collegare il design CDE con tecnologie moderne, come la rasterizzazione dei font tramite XFT, Unicode, menu dinamici e funzionali, desktop virtuali, applet, sfondi e temi di icone, ecc.<\/p>\n
