La principale motivazione per la sostituzione \u00e8 l'uso nella rpmdb di una versione obsoleta di Berkeley DB 5.x, che non \u00e8 pi\u00f9 mantenuta da diversi anni. La transizione a versioni pi\u00f9 recenti \u00e8 ostacolata <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=37377\">cambiamento di licenza<\/a><\/noindex> Berkeley DB 6 su AGPLv3, i cui requisiti si applicano anche alle applicazioni che utilizzano BerkeleyDB in forma di libreria (RPM <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/rpm-software-management\/rpm\/blob\/master\/COPYING\">fornito<\/a><\/noindex> sotto GPLv2, mentre l'AGPL <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gnu.org\/licenses\/license-list.en.html#AGPL\">\u00e8 incompatibile<\/a><\/noindex> con GPLv2).<\/p>\n<p>Inoltre, l'attuale implementazione<br \/>\nrpmdb basata su BerkeleyDB non garantisce la necessaria affidabilit\u00e0, poich\u00e9 non utilizza transazioni e non \u00e8 in grado di rilevare incongruenze nel database. Le modifiche necessarie per utilizzare SQLite saranno proposte nella versione <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/fedoraproject.org\/wiki\/Changes\/RPM-4.16\">RPM 4.16<\/a><\/noindex>Per convertire il formato del database, sar\u00e0 sufficiente utilizzare il comando \u00abrpmdb \u2014rebuilddb\u00bb.<br \/>\nLa nuova implementazione di rpmdb \u00e8 prevista per essere inclusa in Fedora 33, mantenendo per garantire compatibilit\u00e0 il supporto per BerkeleyDB.
