WireGuard utilizza il concetto di instradamento tramite chiavi di crittografia, che implica l'associazione di una chiave privata a ciascuna interfaccia di rete e l'uso per il legame delle chiavi pubbliche. Lo scambio delle chiavi pubbliche per stabilire la connessione avviene in modo simile a SSH. Per le applicazioni di rete, una tale connessione aggregata appare come una normale connessione TCP, mentre tutta la logica di separazione dei flussi \u00e8 gestita da MPTCP. Il Multipath TCP pu\u00f2 essere utilizzato sia per aumentare la larghezza di banda sia per migliorare l'affidabilit\u00e0. Ad esempio, MPTCP pu\u00f2 essere impiegato per organizzare la trasmissione di dati su uno smartphone utilizzando contemporaneamente collegamenti WiFi e 4G o per ridurre i costi collegando un server utilizzando pi\u00f9 collegamenti economici invece di uno solo costoso.\n<li class=\"l\"> <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/commit\/?id=dcc68b4d8084\">Aggiunto<\/a><\/noindex> supporto per la disciplina di gestione delle code di rete sch_ets (<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/1.ieee802.org\/dcb\/802-1qaz\/\">Enhanced Transmission Selection<\/a><\/noindex>, IEEE 802.1Qaz), che consente di distribuire la larghezza di banda tra diverse classi di traffico. Come esempio <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/commit\/?id=09903869f69f\">\u00e8 stata proposta<\/a><\/noindex> programma BPF con implementazione dell'algoritmo <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/tools.ietf.org\/html\/rfc8257\">DCTCP<\/a><\/noindex>.\n<li class=\"l\"> Sono stati accettati nel kernel <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/commit\/?id=1b3b289fd8da\">modifiche<\/a><\/noindex>, strumenti per la conversione  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ethtool\">ethtool<\/a><\/noindex> da ioctl() all'uso <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/commit\/?id=2b4a8990b7df\">dell'interfaccia netlink<\/a><\/noindex>. La nuova interfaccia semplifica l'aggiunta di estensioni, migliora la gestione degli errori, permette di inviare notifiche al cambiare dello stato, semplifica l'interazione tra il nucleo e lo spazio utente e riduce il numero di liste nominate sincronizzabili.\n<li class=\"l\"> \u00c8 stata aggiunta l'implementazione dell'algoritmo di gestione delle code di rete FQ-PIE (Flow Queue PIE), mirato a ridurre l'impatto negativo del buffering dei pacchetti sullo stato di congestione delle apparecchiature di rete (bufferbloat). FQ-PIE dimostra alta efficienza quando utilizzato in sistemi con modem via cavo.\n<\/ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> <b>Sottosistema disco, I\/O e file system<\/b>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Per il file system Btrfs <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.opennet.ru\/opennews\/art.shtml?num=52228\">aggiunta<\/a><\/noindex> implementazione asincrona dell'operazione DISCARD (marcatura dei blocchi rilasciati che non devono pi\u00f9 essere fisicamente memorizzati). Inizialmente, le operazioni DISCARD venivano eseguite in modo sincrono, causando in alcuni casi un calo delle prestazioni a causa dell'attesa per il completamento dei relativi comandi dai dispositivi di archiviazione. L'implementazione asincrona consente di non attendere la fine del DISCARD da parte del dispositivo e di eseguire questa operazione in background.\n<li class=\"l\"> In XFS <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/commit\/?id=91f1a9566f387137f2da1957792a8f9f07cd058f\">\u00e8 stata condotta<\/a><\/noindex> pulizia del codice che utilizzava vecchi contatori temporali a 32 bit (il tipo time_t \u00e8 stato sostituito con time64_t), che portano al problema dell'anno 2038. Corrette le anomalie e i danni alla memoria riscontrati su piattaforme a 32 bit. Codice ristrutturato per funzionare con gli attributi estesi.\n<li class=\"l\"> Nel file system ext4 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/git.kernel.org\/pub\/scm\/linux\/kernel\/git\/torvalds\/linux.git\/commit\/?id=e5da4c933c50d98d7990a7c1ca0bbf8946e80c4a\">sono stati apportati<\/a><\/noindex> ottimizzazioni delle prestazioni relative alla gestione del blocco degli inode nelle operazioni di lettura e scrittura.
