AMD ha ufficialmente annunciato che, a partire dal 31 marzo, interromper\u00e0 il supporto alla tecnologia StoreMI, che consente di unire dischi rigidi e SSD in un'unica unit\u00e0 logica. L'azienda ha anche promesso di presentare una nuova versione della tecnologia con funzionalit\u00e0 migliorate nel secondo trimestre di quest'anno.<\/p>\n

La tecnologia StoreMI \u00e8 stata presentata insieme ai processori Ryzen della serie 2000 (Pinnacle Ridge) e ai relativi chipset della serie 400. Successivamente, AMD ha aggiunto il supporto per il chipset X399 per Ryzen Threadripper e, in seguito, anche per i processori Ryzen della serie 3000 (Matisse) e la logica di sistema X570.<\/p>\n

La tecnologia non solo consente di unire dischi rigidi e SSD in un'unica unit\u00e0 logica, ma permette anche di sfruttare i vantaggi di una maggiore velocit\u00e0 operativa. Questo \u00e8 possibile grazie a un software specifico che analizza i dati, identifica quelli pi\u00f9 utilizzati e li memorizza su un'unit\u00e0 pi\u00f9 veloce. Gli sviluppatori di AMD affermano che utilizzare StoreMI consente di migliorare il tempo di avvio di Windows di 2,3 volte. Per quanto riguarda le applicazioni e i giochi, il loro avvio \u00e8 accelerato rispettivamente di 9,8 e 2,9 volte.<\/p>\n

A partire dal 31 marzo, il software StoreMI non sar\u00e0 pi\u00f9 disponibile per il download. Gli utenti che sono riusciti a scaricare StoreMI potranno continuare ad utilizzare la tecnologia di unione dei dischi. Tuttavia, gli sviluppatori avvertono che le risorse dell'azienda saranno riallocate per creare una sostituzione, quindi non sar\u00e0 fornito supporto tecnico per l'attuale versione del software. AMD sconsiglia anche di scaricare StoreMI da fonti esterne, poich\u00e9 in tal caso non pu\u00f2 essere garantita la sicurezza del download. Come sostituzione temporanea, si consiglia di utilizzare soluzioni alternative come Enmotus FuzeDrive.<\/p>\n
