L'azienda Intel ha risolto due vulnerabilit\u00e0 critiche vulnerabilit\u00e0<\/a><\/noindex> (CVE-2020-0594, CVE-2020-0595) nella realizzazione delle tecnologie Intel Active Management Technology (AMT) e Intel Standard Manageability (ISM), che forniscono interfacce per il monitoraggio e la gestione dell'hardware. Le problematiche sono state classificate con il massimo livello di gravit\u00e0 (9.8 su 10 CVSS), poich\u00e9 le vulnerabilit\u00e0 consentono a un attaccante non autenticato di accedere in rete alle funzioni di gestione remota dell'hardware tramite l'invio di pacchetti IPv6 appositamente formattati. Il problema si manifesta solo se \u00e8 attivato il supporto per l'accesso IPv6 in AMT, disattivato di default. Le vulnerabilit\u00e0 sono state corrette negli aggiornamenti del firmware 11.8.77, 11.12.77, 11.22.77 e 12.0.64. <\/p>\n

Ricordiamo che i moderni chip Intel sono dotati di un microprocessore indipendente, il Management Engine, che opera separatamente dalla CPU e dal sistema operativo. Il Management Engine gestisce compiti che devono essere isolati dal sistema operativo, come l'elaborazione di contenuti protetti (DRM), l'implementazione delle module TPM (Trusted Platform Module) e interfacce a basso livello per il monitoraggio e la gestione dell'hardware. L'interfaccia AMT consente di accedere alle funzioni di gestione dell'alimentazione, al monitoraggio del traffico, alla modifica delle impostazioni del BIOS, all'aggiornamento del firmware, alla cancellazione dei dischi, al caricamento remoto di un nuovo sistema operativo (emulando una chiavetta USB da cui avviare) e al reindirizzamento della console (Serial Over LAN e KVM<\/a> network) ecc. Le interfacce fornite sono sufficienti per eseguire attacchi quando si ha accesso fisico al sistema, ad esempio, \u00e8 possibile caricare un sistema Live e apportare modifiche al sistema principale. <\/p>\n
