In biblioteca libtorrent<\/a><\/noindex>, che offre un'implementazione del protocollo BitTorrent efficiente in termini di consumo di memoria e carico della CPU, \u00e8 stata aggiunta<\/a><\/noindex> supporto per il protocollo WebTorrent<\/a><\/noindex>. Codice<\/a><\/noindex> lavorando con WebTorrent verr\u00e0<\/a><\/noindex> incluso nella prossima significativa versione di libtorrent, formata dopo il ramo 2.0, che \u00e8 attualmente in fase di rilascio candidato.<\/p>\n

WebTorrent \u00e8 un'estensione del protocollo BitTorrent che consente di configurare una rete decentralizzata per la distribuzione dei contenuti, funzionante attraverso il collegamento tra i browser degli utenti che visualizzano il contenuto. Il progetto non richiede alcuna infrastruttura server esterna o plugin per browser. Per collegare i visitatori dei siti in un'unica rete di distribuzione dei contenuti \u00e8 sufficiente inserire nel sito un codice JavaScript speciale che utilizza la tecnologia WebRTC per lo scambio diretto di dati tra i browser. Il progetto prevede anche lo sviluppo di un client desktop WebTorrent Desktop<\/a><\/noindex>, che dispone di funzionalit\u00e0 avanzate come lo streaming video.<\/p>\n

L'integrazione di WebTorrent in libtorrent permetter\u00e0 la condivisione dei contenuti non solo tramite i browser dei visitatori dei siti, ma anche tramite client torrent desktop, che utilizzano<\/a><\/noindex> la libreria libtorrent<\/a><\/noindex>, inclusi Deluge<\/a><\/noindex> e qBittorrent<\/a><\/noindex> (rTorrent non \u00e8 coinvolto, poich\u00e9 utilizza un'altra libreria libtorrent<\/a><\/noindex>). L'implementazione di WebTorrent aggiunta a libtorrent \u00e8 scritta in C++ e pu\u00f2 essere trasferita in altre librerie e client torrent (il WebTorrent originale \u00e8 scritto<\/a><\/noindex> \u00e8 in JavaScript). <\/p>\n

In questo modo possono formarsi reti ibride con partecipanti in grado di interagire con reti basate su BitTorrent e WebTorrent. I client torrent basati su libtorrent potranno connettersi con i peer WebTorrent che operano nei browser, ad esempio partecipando allo scambio di file tramite instant.io<\/a><\/noindex>, cos\u00ec come a sistemi di streaming video o video hosting basati su PeerTube<\/a><\/noindex>. A sua volta, i client browser WebTorrent potranno accedere attraverso gli utenti dei client desktop a un'ampia collezione di torrent distribuiti dai peer BitTorrent sopra TCP\/UDP. <\/p>\n
