Cerchiamo di non utilizzare controller RAID hardware, ma abbiamo un cliente che preferisce configurazioni con LSI MegaRAID. Oggi abbiamo riscontrato il surriscaldamento della scheda MegaRAID 9361-8i poich\u00e9 la piattaforma non percepiva<\/strong> il surriscaldamento, mentre il controller RAID lo percepiva.<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Alcuni punti importanti da considerare su questo server<\/a> e sull'ambiente di lavoro:<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

L'ingegnere che ha assemblato la piattaforma ha posizionato due ventilatori di fronte alla scheda, sapendo che i controller LSI tendono a surriscaldarsi. Nota la scheda madre, che praticamente non va oltre il controller, terminando a circa 3 cm dopo lo slot PCI-E.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Come puoi vedere, tutti i ventilatori sono collegati correttamente alla scheda madre Supermicro e operano in modalit\u00e0 Optimal<\/strong> \"soffiano\" a seconda dei sensori su di esso, della temperatura della CPU.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

In questa piattaforma \u00e8 installato un Xeon E-2236, un CPU piuttosto freddo, che presso il cliente, evidentemente, non si \u00e8 surriscaldato molto.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Il Data Center in cui si trova questo server \u00e8 piuttosto freddo: il corridoio freddo mantiene una temperatura di 18-20 gradi.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

La combinazione di questi fattori ha portato a un fenomeno piuttosto interessante: il surriscaldamento del RAID controller.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

La probabile sequenza di come \u00e8 successo<\/h3>\n

<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. il processore e la scheda madre segnalavano ai ventilatori di funzionare a bassa intensit\u00e0.<\/li>\n
  2. la scheda madre per il RAID era assente e non c'erano sensori capaci di rilevare il surriscaldamento.<\/li>\n
  3. I ventilatori, configurati in modalit\u00e0 Ottimale, funzionavano a bassa intensit\u00e0, in base alle necessit\u00e0 della scheda madre e della CPU.<\/li>\n
  4. Il controller, non ricevendo un flusso d'aria sufficiente, si \u00e8 surriscaldato.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Ventilatori impostati su modalit\u00e0 \"Standard\", passeremo a una modalit\u00e0 di prestazioni pi\u00f9 elevate se necessario.<\/p>\n

    Conclusioni<\/h3>\n

    <\/p>\n

    Probabilmente, se il corridoio freddo del Data Center non fosse stato cos\u00ec freddo, o se il cliente avesse utilizzato intensamente la CPU, questo problema non si sarebbe verificato, poich\u00e9 i ventilatori avrebbero funzionato a una maggiore intensit\u00e0.<\/p>\n

    Per noi, abbiamo deciso di cambiare sempre la modalit\u00e0 di funzionamento dei ventilatori a server<\/a> da RAID Ottimale a una modalit\u00e0 con frequenza di rotazione aumentata.<\/p>\n
