Il DNS \u00e8, in sostanza, un'enorme rubrica di internet. Inoltre, il DNS \u00e8 il protocollo di base che permette agli amministratori di fare richieste al database del server DNS. Fin qui tutto chiaro. Ma astuti hacker hanno capito che \u00e8 possibile comunicare di nascosto con il computer vittima infiltrando comandi e dati nel protocollo DNS. \u00c8 proprio questa idea alla base del tunneling DNS.<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" name=\"habracut\"><\/a><\/noindex><\/p>\n<h2> Come funziona il tunneling DNS<\/h2>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Che cos&#039;\u00e8 il tunneling DNS? E il DNS supporta un semplice <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.verisign.com\/en_US\/website-presence\/online\/how-dns-works\/index.xhtml\">protocollo <\/a><\/noindex>di tipo richiesta-risposta. Se vuoi vedere come funziona, puoi avviare nslookup - lo strumento principale per inviare richieste DNS. Puoi richiedere un indirizzo semplicemente specificando il nome di dominio di interesse, ad esempio:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Che cos&#039;\u00e8 il tunneling DNS? In tal caso, potrebbe trasmettere dati \u2014 ad esempio, dati personali \u2014 e non sarebbe necessariamente scoperto. Alla fine, perch\u00e9 mai una richiesta DNS dovrebbe diventare qualcosa di illegittimo? <\/p>\n<p>Controllando il server, gli hacker possono falsificare le risposte e inviare dati indietro al sistema bersaglio. Questo consente loro di trasmettere messaggi nascosti in vari campi della risposta DNS, verso malware su una macchina compromessa, con istruzioni come la ricerca all'interno di una certa cartella.<\/p>\n<p>La parte \"tunneling\" di questo attacco consiste nel <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.varonis.com\/blog\/powershell-obfuscation-stealth-through-confusion-part-i\/\">nascondere <\/a><\/noindex> dati e comandi dalla rilevazione da parte dei sistemi di monitoraggio. Gli hacker possono utilizzare set di caratteri come base32, base64, ecc., o persino crittografare i dati. Tale codifica passer\u00e0 inosservata a semplici strumenti di rilevazione delle minacce che cercano nel testo aperto.<\/p>\n<p>Ed ecco il DNS tunneling!<\/p>\n<h2> Storia degli attacchi tramite DNS tunneling<\/h2>\n<p>\nTutto ha un inizio, compresa l'idea di sfruttare il protocollo DNS per scopi hacker. Per quanto possiamo giudicare, la prima <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/groups.google.com\/forum\/#!msg\/muc.lists.bugtraq\/Myj1gKWzCAY\/QI6BrCtG7cgJ\">discussione <\/a><\/noindex>di un tale attacco \u00e8 stata condotta da Oskar Pearson nella mailing list Bugtraq nell'aprile del 1998.<\/p>\n<p>Entro il 2004, il DNS tunneling \u00e8 stato presentato al Black Hat come metodo di hacking in una presentazione di Dan Kaminsky. Quali precisamente? Ne abbiamo gi\u00e0 parlato di alcune, ma organizziamole:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Estrazione dei dati (exfiltrazione)<\/strong> \u2013 un hacker trasmette silenziosamente dati critici attraverso il DNS. Questo non \u00e8 certamente il modo pi\u00f9 efficace per trasferire informazioni da un computer compromesso, considerando i costi e le codifiche, ma funziona e lo fa in modo furtivo!<\/li>\n<li><strong>Gestione e controllo (Command and Control, C2)<\/strong> \u2013 gli hacker utilizzano il protocollo DNS per inviare comandi di controllo semplici, ad esempio attraverso <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.varonis.com\/blog\/koadic-lol-malware-meets-python-based-command-and-control-c2-server-part-i\/\">un trojan di accesso remoto <\/a><\/noindex>(Remote Access Trojan, RAT).<\/li>\n<li><strong>Tunneling IP-Over-DNS <\/strong>\u2013 pu\u00f2 sembrare folle, ma ci sono utility che realizzano lo stack IP sopra le richieste e risposte del protocollo DNS. Questo rende il trasferimento dei dati tramite FTP, Netcat, ssh, ecc. relativamente semplice. Estremamente sinistro!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h2>Rilevamento del tunneling DNS<\/h2>\n<p>\n<img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Che cos&#039;\u00e8 il tunneling DNS? Guida all&#039;individuazione\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/8e182ef5a3d5be38b27f79317008ca0f.jpeg\" style=\"display:block;margin: 0 auto;\" \/><br \/>\n<br \/>\nCi sono due metodi principali per rilevare l'abuso del DNS: analisi del carico e analisi del traffico.<\/p>\n<p>Durante <strong>analisi del carico <\/strong> la parte difendente cerca anomalie nei dati trasmessi in entrambe le direzioni, che possono essere individuate mediante metodi statistici: nomi di host con caratteristiche strane, tipi di record DNS che non vengono utilizzati frequentemente o codifiche non standard.<\/p>\n<p>Durante <strong>analisi del traffico <\/strong>viene valutato il numero di richieste DNS per ogni dominio rispetto ai livelli medi. Gli aggressori che utilizzano il tunneling DNS genereranno un grande volume di traffico verso il server. Teoricamente, questo superer\u00e0 notevolmente il normale scambio di messaggi DNS. E questo deve essere monitorato! <\/p>\n<h3>Utilit\u00e0 di tunneling DNS<\/h3>\n<p>\nSe desideri effettuare un tuo test di penetrazione e verificare quanto bene la tua azienda riesca a rilevare e rispondere a tale attivit\u00e0, ci sono diverse utilit\u00e0 per farlo. Tutte sono in grado di tunneling in modalit\u00e0 <em>IP-Over-DNS<\/em>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/code.kryo.se\/iodine\/\">Iodine <\/a><\/noindex>\u2013 disponibile su molte piattaforme (Linux, Mac OS, FreeBSD e Windows). Consente di stabilire una shell SSH tra il computer obiettivo e il computer di controllo. Come nel tunneling DNS, l'hacker nasconde i propri dati, ma in questo caso appaiono come traffico di un normale browser web che si connette a un sito remoto (controllato dall'attaccante).
