Il rilascio \u00e8 disponibile solo per l'installazione diretta <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.thunderbird.net\/en-US\/thunderbird\/all\/\">il download<\/a><\/noindex>, l'aggiornamento automatico dalle versioni precedenti sar\u00e0 generato solo nella versione 78.2.<\/p>\n<p>Nella nuova versione \u00e8 stata riconosciuta l'idoneit\u00e0 all'uso generale  e attivata per default  la supporto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/support.mozilla.org\/en-US\/kb\/introduction-to-e2e-encryption\">della crittografia end-to-end<\/a><\/noindex> della corrispondenza e della verifica delle lettere con firma digitale basata su chiavi pubbliche OpenPGP. In precedenza, tale funzionalit\u00e0 era fornita dall'estensione Enigmail, il cui supporto nella serie Thunderbird 78 \u00e8 terminato. L'implementazione integrata \u00e8 un nuovo sviluppo, realizzato con la partecipazione dell'autore di Enigmail. La principale distinzione \u00e8 l'utilizzo della libreria <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rnpgp.com\/\">RNP<\/a><\/noindex>, che fornisce funzionalit\u00e0 OpenPGP, invece della chiamata a un'utilit\u00e0 esterna GnuPG, oltre all'implementazione di un proprio archivio di chiavi, non compatibile con il formato dei file chiave GnuPG e che utilizza per la protezione una password master, la stessa utilizzata per proteggere gli account e le chiavi S\/MIME.<\/p>\n<p>Tra le altre modifiche si segnala l'aggiunta di un campo di ricerca nella scheda delle impostazioni e la disattivazione dello sfondo scuro nell'interfaccia di lettura dei messaggi.
