Le specifiche prevedono di generare per ogni sessione un flusso di chiavi unico, ma come \u00e8 stato scoperto dai ricercatori, 12 delle 15 stazioni base testate non rispettano questa condizione e riutilizzano lo stesso flusso di chiavi per due chiamate consecutive su un singolo canale radio oppure utilizzano metodi prevedibili per generare una nuova sequenza.<\/p>\n<p>Il riutilizzo del flusso di chiavi consente all'attaccante di decriptare il traffico registrato criptato con la conversazione. Per effettuare la decrittazione del contenuto della chiamata vocale, l'attaccante prima intercetta e salva il traffico radio criptato tra la vittima e la stazione base vulnerabile. Dopo la fine della chiamata, l'attaccante richiama la vittima e tenta di prolungare la conversazione il pi\u00f9 a lungo possibile, senza permettere alla vittima di chiudere la chiamata. Durante questa conversazione, oltre a registrare il traffico radio criptato, viene anche salvato il segnale audio originale non criptato.<\/p>\n<p>Per decriptare la prima chiamata della vittima, l'attaccante, sulla base del traffico criptato intercettato durante la seconda chiamata e dei dati vocali originali registrati sul telefono dell'attaccante, pu\u00f2 calcolare il valore del flusso di chiavi, che \u00e8 determinato dall'operazione XOR tra i dati aperti e quelli criptati. Poich\u00e9 il flusso di chiavi viene riutilizzato, applicando il flusso di chiavi calcolato per la seconda chiamata ai dati criptati della prima chiamata, l'attaccante pu\u00f2 accedere al suo contenuto originale. Pi\u00f9 a lungo dura la seconda conversazione dell'attaccante con la vittima, maggiore sar\u00e0 la quantit\u00e0 di informazioni che possono essere decriptate dalla prima chiamata. Ad esempio, se l'attaccante \u00e8 riuscito a prolungare la conversazione per 5 minuti, potr\u00e0 decriptare anche 5 minuti.<\/p>\n<p>Per catturare il traffico criptato nell'aria delle reti LTE, i ricercatori hanno utilizzato un analizzatore di segnali <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.softwareradiosystems.com\/products\/#AirScope\">AirScope<\/a><\/noindex>, e per ottenere il flusso vocale originale durante la chiamata dell'attaccante sono stati utilizzati smartphone Android, controllati tramite ADB e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/fgsect\/scat\">SCAT<\/a><\/noindex>. Tuttavia, alcuni operatori potrebbero aver ignorato gli aggiornamenti. Per verificare l'esposizione ai problemi delle reti LTE e 5G  <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/RUB-SysSec\/mobile_sentinel\">preparato<\/a><\/noindex> un'app mobile speciale per la piattaforma Android 9 (per funzionare \u00e8 necessario l'accesso root e uno smartphone con chip Qualcomm, come Xiaomi Mi A3, One Plus 6T e Xiaomi Mix 3 5G). Oltre a determinare la presenza di vulnerabilit\u00e0, l'app pu\u00f2 anche essere utilizzata per catturare il traffico e visualizzare i messaggi di servizio. Il traffico catturato viene salvato in formato PCAP e pu\u00f2 essere inviato a un server HTTP specificato dall'utente per un'analisi successiva con strumenti standard. <\/p>\n<p><center><noindex><a
