La verifica ha mostrato che in 4 su 6 noti scanner di immagini Docker erano presenti vulnerabilit\u00e0 critiche che consentivano di attaccare direttamente lo scanner stesso e di eseguire il proprio codice nel sistema, in alcuni casi (ad esempio, utilizzando Snyk) con i diritti di root. <\/p>\n<p>Per attaccare, un aggressore deve solo avviare la verifica del proprio Dockerfile o manifest.json, che includa metadati appositamente formati, oppure inserire all'interno dell'immagine i file Podfile e gradlew. Sono stati preparati prototipi di exploit <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/gmatuz\/cve-scanner-exploiting-pocs\">per i sistemi<\/a><\/noindex> Fossa<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whitesourcesoftware.com\/whitesource-for-containers\/\">WhiteSource<\/a><\/noindex>, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/hub.docker.com\/r\/snyk\/snyk-cli\">Snyk<\/a><\/noindex>,<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/hub.docker.com\/r\/fossa\/fossa-cli\">. Il pacchetto ha mostrato la migliore sicurezza<\/a><\/noindex> e<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/hub.docker.com\/u\/anchore\">Anchore<\/a><\/noindex>, originariamente scritto con particolare attenzione alla sicurezza. Non sono stati riscontrati problemi nemmeno nel pacchetto <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/quay\/clair\">Clair<\/a><\/noindex>. Sfruttare la vulnerabilit\u00e0 significava aggiungere nel file manifest.json parametri del tipo \u2018\"os\": \"$(touch hacked_anchore)\"\u2019, che venivano sostituiti durante la chiamata di skopeo senza la dovuta escape (venivano rimossi solo i caratteri \u00ab;&amp;, ma era consentita la costruzione \u00ab$()\u00bb).<\/a><\/noindex> per lavorare con le immagini Docker. L'utilizzo consisteva nell'aggiungere al file manifest.json parametri del tipo &#8216;&#187;os&#187;: &#171;$(touch hacked_anchore)&#187;&#8216;, che vengono inseriti durante la chiamata a skopeo senza la dovuta escaping (venivano rimossi solo i caratteri &#171;;&#038;&lt;&gt;&#187;, ma era permessa la costruzione &#171;$()&#187;).<\/p>\n<p>Lo stesso autore ha condotto uno studio sull'efficacia dell'individuazione delle vulnerabilit\u00e0 non corrette da parte degli scanner di sicurezza dei contenitori Docker e sul livello dei falsi positivi (<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@matuzg\/testing-docker-cve-scanners-part-1-false-negatives-and-what-they-mean-for-your-security-77fc4eb1b2cf\">parte 1<\/a><\/noindex>, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@matuzg\/testing-docker-cve-scanners-part-2-how-good-is-package-detection-f68d7230b830\">parte 2<\/a><\/noindex>, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@matuzg\/testing-docker-cve-scanners-part-3-test-it-yourself-conclusions-6de868124d3d\">parte 3<\/a><\/noindex>).
