La comunit\u00e0 di LibreOffice ha celebrato<\/a><\/noindex> dieci anni dalla creazione del progetto. Dieci anni fa, i principali sviluppatori di OpenOffice.org hanno fondato<\/a><\/noindex> una nuova organizzazione non profit, The Document Foundation, per continuare lo sviluppo della suite per ufficio come progetto indipendente da Oracle, senza richiedere agli sviluppatori di trasferire i diritti di propriet\u00e0 sul codice e adottando decisioni basate sui principi del merito.<\/p>\n

Il progetto \u00e8 stato creato un anno dopo l'acquisizione di Sun Microsystems a causa del malcontento per il rigido controllo dello sviluppo da parte di Oracle, che ostacolava la collaborazione con le aziende interessate. In particolare, Oracle praticava una gestione dall'alto verso il basso, imponendo soluzioni, non trasparenza nei processi decisionali e richiedendo la firma di un accordo di completa cessione dei diritti sul codice. Il progetto LibreOffice \u00e8 stato creato con il supporto di organizzazioni non profit come Free Software Foundation, Open Source Initiative (OSI), OASIS e GNOME Foundation, nonch\u00e9 aziende come Canonical, Credativ, Collabora, Google, Novell e Red Hat.
