L'adattamento di Xen per funzionare sulle versioni precedenti delle schede Raspberry Pi era ostacolato dall'uso di un controller delle interruzioni non standard, privo del supporto per la virtualizzazione. Nella Raspberry Pi 4 \u00e8 stato utilizzato un normale controller delle interruzioni GIC-400, supportato in Xen, e gli sviluppatori si aspettavano che non ci sarebbero stati problemi nell'avviare Xen. Tuttavia, in realt\u00e0, le cose non sono andate come previsto e sono state necessarie modifiche significative al codice per gestire la memoria.<\/p>\n<p> Le prime versioni delle schede Raspberry Pi 4 limitavano l'accesso solo allo spazio di indirizzamento del primo gigabyte di memoria, cosa che non era sufficiente per Dom0. Le modifiche necessarie sono state apportate con il rilascio di Xen 4.14, ma \u00e8 emerso subito un altro problema \u2014 nel sottosistema Xen per la conversione degli indirizzi virtuali in fisici veniva utilizzata la chiamata virt_to_phys, che non funzionava per tutti gli indirizzi virtuali e i tentativi di conversione di alcuni indirizzi virtuali terminavano con un errore. Per risolvere questo problema \u00e8 stata necessaria l'aggiunta di un'altra funzione di conversione degli indirizzi.<\/p>\n<p>Le problematiche non si sono fermate qui e si \u00e8 presentata una particolarit\u00e0 nel funzionamento del DMA \u2014 su tutte le piattaforme precedentemente supportate da Xen (x86, ARM e ARM64) gli indirizzi DMA e gli indirizzi fisici coincidevano sempre, ma nel Raspberry Pi 4 erano diversi. Trovare una soluzione per questo problema si \u00e8 rivelato il pi\u00f9 difficile e ha richiesto lo sviluppo di patch per il kernel Linux che eseguivano la conversione tra indirizzi fisici e indirizzi DMA. <\/p>\n<p>Le correzioni preparate sono state integrate nel kernel Linux 5.9 e ora Xen \u00e8 ufficialmente pronto per organizzare la virtualizzazione sulle schede Raspberry Pi 4. In particolare, su Raspberry Pi 4 \u00e8 ora possibile utilizzare <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/lf-edge\/eve\">EVE<\/a><\/noindex> (Edge Virtualization Engine), un motore per la creazione e l'esecuzione di applicazioni cloud-native che utilizza Xen, <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/linuxkit\/linuxkit\">Linuxkit<\/a><\/noindex> e <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/alpinelinux.org\/\">Alpine Linux<\/a><\/noindex> per costruire infrastrutture di virtualizzazione su dispositivi portatili.<\/p>\n<p>In aggiunta, si pu\u00f2 notare la risoluzione di <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/xenbits.xen.org\/xsa\/\">10 vulnerabilit\u00e0<\/a><\/noindex> in Xen. Le vulnerabilit\u00e0 <noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/xenbits.xen.org\/xsa\/advisory-343.html\">CVE-2020-25599<\/a><\/noindex>,<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/xenbits.xen.org\/xsa\/advisory-340.html\">CVE-2020-25603<\/a><\/noindex> e<br \/>\n<noindex><a rel=\"nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/xenbits.xen.org\/xsa\/advisory-337.html\">CVE-2020-25595<\/a><\/noindex><br \/>\n potenzialmente consentono al sistema guest di ottenere privilegi dell'ambiente host.
