Vedendo che anche ci\u00f2 che \u00e8 accaduto al programma youtube-dl<\/a>, quando il suo repository \u00e8 stato bloccato insieme ai bug tracker e alle pull request, poche persone sono state spinte a rinunciare alla dipendenza da GitHub \u2014 neppure il suo stesso sviluppatore<\/a> \u2014 Joey Hess ha deciso che il backup di qualsiasi cosa oltre al codice sorgente non interessava agli utenti di GitHub.<\/p>\n

Nel frattempo, i repository git del codice sorgente<\/em> su GitHub vengono archiviati automaticamente dal sito https:\/\/softwareheritage.org\/<\/a>, mentre i repository di terze parti possono essere aggiunti solo manualmente, ma questa funzione presenta dei bug e non supporta nemmeno l'aggiornamento automatico delle copie. Nasce cos\u00ec un paradosso: l'utente medio di GitHub non pensa al backup, ma lo riceve, mentre per coloro che utilizzano il proprio server, forse proprio per affidabilit\u00e0, non avviene alcun archiviazione automatica, anche se il loro software \u00e8 utilizzato.<\/p>\n
