Dopo quasi cinque anni dalla precedente versione, \u00e8 iniziato il test alpha della distribuzione Slackware 15.0. Il progetto \u00e8 in sviluppo dal 1993 ed \u00e8 la distribuzione attualmente esistente pi\u00f9 antica. Tra le sue caratteristiche ci sono l'assenza di complessit\u00e0 e un sistema di inizializzazione semplice in stile classico BSD, il che rende Slackware una soluzione interessante per studiare il funzionamento dei sistemi Unix-like, effettuare esperimenti e avvicinarsi a Linux. \u00c8 disponibile un'immagine di installazione da scaricare, della dimensione di 3,1 GB (x86_64), insieme a una versione avviabile in modalit\u00e0 Live. <\/p>\n

La nuova versione \u00e8 notevole per l'aggiornamento della libreria di sistema Glibc alla versione 2.33 e per l'utilizzo del kernel Linux 5.10. Fatto salvo rare eccezioni, gli altri pacchetti sono stati trasferiti dalla branca Current e ricompilati con la nuova Glibc. Ad esempio, la ricompilazione di firefox, thunderbird e seamonkey \u00e8 stata posticipata, poich\u00e9 richiedono l'applicazione di patch aggiuntive per la compatibilit\u00e0 con il nuovo compilatore Rust utilizzato nella distribuzione.
