Dopo GitHub e Bitbucket, la piattaforma di sviluppo collaborativo GitLab ha annunciato che smetter\u00e0 di utilizzare come termine predefinito la parola \u00abmaster\u00bb per i rami principali, a favore della parola \u00abmain\u00bb. Il termine \u00abmaster\u00bb \u00e8 stato recentemente considerato politicamente scorretto, evocando ricordi di schiavit\u00f9 e percepito da alcuni membri della comunit\u00e0 come offensivo. <\/p>\n

Il cambiamento sar\u00e0 implementato sia nel servizio GitLab.com che dopo l'aggiornamento della piattaforma GitLab per uso locale. Il nuovo nome sar\u00e0 applicato alla creazione di nuovi progetti. Nella versione 13.11 di GitLab, prevista per il 22 aprile, sar\u00e0 presente un flag per la sostituzione opzionale del nome del branch principale, ma per impostazione predefinita, nei nuovi progetti continuer\u00e0 ad essere utilizzato il nome master. Nella versione 14.0 di GitLab, attesa per il 22 maggio, per tutti i progetti creati sar\u00e0 utilizzato per impostazione predefinita il nome main. <\/p>\n

Nel caso di aggiornamento di sistemi esistenti a GitLab 14.0, nei nuovi progetti creati tramite l'interfaccia web verr\u00e0 applicato, per impostazione predefinita, il nome main. In caso di utilizzo di sistemi di integrazione continua, potrebbe essere necessario modificare gli script e le impostazioni con collegamenti hardcoded a master. A richiesta, gli utenti potranno ripristinare il nome master attraverso un'impostazione che controlla il nome del ramo predefinito.
