Queste patch sono gi\u00e0 state approvate dal maintainer del ramo Linux SoC e sono state incorporate nel codice sorgente di Linux-next, base su cui si sviluppa la funzionalit\u00e0 del kernel 5.13. Tecnicamente, Linus Torvalds potrebbe bloccare l'invio delle modifiche proposte, ma tale sviluppo \u00e8 ritenuto improbabile.     <\/p>\n<p>Le patch includono il supporto per i componenti SoC M1 non legati alla GPU, come il controller di interruzione, il timer, UART, SMP, e funzioni per la gestione input\/output e MMIO. Il reverse engineering della GPU non \u00e8 ancora completato; per la gestione delle uscite, le patch forniscono supporto per il framebuffer e la console tramite la porta seriale. Tra i dispositivi supportati \u00e8 presente il computer Apple Mac mini, utilizzato come piattaforma di riferimento nel progetto Asahi Linux (\u00e8 disponibile una guida dettagliata per l'installazione).     <\/p>\n<p>Si sta sviluppando separatamente un adattatore hardware open source, progettato per semplificare la connessione alla console tramite porta seriale e facilitare il debug. Attualmente, a causa dell'uso da parte di Apple di comandi USB-PD non standard nel proprio hardware, il modo pi\u00f9 semplice per accedere alla console \u00e8 collegarsi a un altro computer basato su chip Apple M1 utilizzando un cavo USB-C. Un'opzione pi\u00f9 complessa prevede la realizzazione di un'interfaccia basata su un microcontrollore Arduino, un chip FUSB30 e un adattatore UART-TTL.      <\/p>\n<p>Il progetto ha anche creato un bootloader chiamato m1n1, che consente di avviare il kernel Linux e un ambiente di sistema minimale sui computer Mac con CPU Apple M1. Apple consente su computer con CPU M1 di avviare kernel non firmati senza necessit\u00e0 di utilizzare jailbreak. Questa funzionalit\u00e0 offre agli sviluppatori l'opportunit\u00e0 di sperimentare con nuovi kernel XNU, ma si presentano difficolt\u00e0 quando si tenta di avviare altri sistemi, poich\u00e9 Apple utilizza un proprio protocollo di avvio e un formato del Device Tree diverso. Il bootloader m1n1 proposto dal progetto Asahi Linux funge da intermediario, consentendo di utilizzare il Device Tree standard e il protocollo di avvio utilizzato nel kernel Linux per ARM64.
