Le principali operazioni binarie (AND, NAND, OR, NOR e XOR) in questi chip vengono realizzate tramite porte logiche (interruttori) con molteplici ingressi e un'uscita, la cui configurazione di collegamenti pu\u00f2 essere modificata tramite software.      <\/p>\n<p>Tra i fondatori dell'organizzazione OSFPGA ci sono alcuni ricercatori di spicco nelle tecnologie legate agli FPGA, che rappresentano aziende e progetti come EPFL, QuickLogic, Zero ASIC e GSG Group. Sotto l'egida di questa nuova organizzazione, verr\u00e0 sviluppato un insieme di strumenti aperti e gratuiti per la creazione rapida di prototipi basati su chip FPGA e per il supporto degli strumenti di automazione della progettazione elettronica (EDA). L'organizzazione supervisioner\u00e0 anche la co-progettazione di standard aperti relativi agli FPGA, fornendo alle aziende una piattaforma neutrale per lo scambio di esperienze e tecnologie.      <\/p>\n<p>Si prevede che grazie all'attivit\u00e0 di OSFPGA, i produttori di chip possano eliminare alcuni processi ingegneristici nella produzione di FPGA, gli sviluppatori di soluzioni finali otterranno un'interfaccia software personalizzabile per FPGA e si instaurer\u00e0 una collaborazione per la creazione di nuove architetture di alta qualit\u00e0. Si sottolinea che negli strumenti aperti forniti dall'organizzazione OSFPGA sar\u00e0 mantenuto un elevato livello di qualit\u00e0, conforme o superiore ai requisiti degli standard industriali.    <\/p>\n<p>Obiettivi principali dell'Open-Source FPGA Foundation:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> Fornire risorse e infrastrutture per lo sviluppo di un insieme di strumenti relativi all'hardware e al software FPGA.\n<li class=\"l\"> Promuovere l'uso di questi strumenti attraverso l'organizzazione di eventi diversi.\n<li class=\"l\"> Garantire supporto, sviluppo e apertura degli strumenti per l'esplorazione di architetture FPGA avanzate, cos\u00ec come per lo sviluppo software e hardware correlato.\n<li class=\"l\"> Mantenere un catalogo di architetture FPGA pubblicamente accessibili, tecnologie di progettazione e layout di schede, reperiti da pubblicazioni e descrizioni di brevetti scaduti.\n<li class=\"l\"> Preparare e fornire accesso a materiali didattici, aiutando a formare una comunit\u00e0 di sviluppatori interessati.\n<li class=\"l\"> Semplificare l'interazione con i produttori di chip per ridurre i costi e i tempi di test e verifica delle nuove architetture FPGA e hardware.    <\/ul>\n<p>Strumenti aperti correlati al progetto:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> OpenFPGA \u2014 toolkit per l'automazione della progettazione di dispositivi elettronici (EDA) per FPGA, che supporta la generazione di contenuti basata su descrizioni in linguaggio Verilog.\n<li class=\"l\"> 1st CLaaS \u2014 framework che consente di utilizzare FPGA per creare acceleratori hardware per applicazioni web e cloud.\n<li class=\"l\"> Verilog-to-Routing (VTR) \u2014 strumento che consente di generare la configurazione di un FPGA selezionato basata su descrizioni in linguaggio Verilog.\n<li class=\"l\"> Symbiflow \u2014 strumento per lo sviluppo di soluzioni basate su FPGA Xilinx 7, Lattice iCE40, Lattice ECP5 e QuickLogic EOS S3.\n<li class=\"l\"> Yosys \u2014 framework per la sintesi di Verilog RTL per aree di applicazione standard.\n<li class=\"l\"> EPFL \u2014 collezione di librerie per lo sviluppo di applicazioni di sintesi logica.\n<li class=\"l\"> LSOracle \u2014 estensione delle librerie EPFL per ottimizzare i risultati della sintesi logica.\n<li class=\"l\"> Edalize \u2014 strumento in linguaggio Python per interagire con sistemi di automazione della progettazione elettronica (EDA) e generare file di progetto per essi.\n<li class=\"l\"> GHDL \u2014 compilatore, analizzatore, simulatore e sintetizzatore per il linguaggio di descrizione hardware VHDL.\n<li class=\"l\"> VerilogCreator \u2014 plugin per QtCreator che trasforma questa applicazione in un ambiente di sviluppo per il linguaggio Verilog 2005.\n<li class=\"l\"> FuseSoC \u2014 gestore di pacchetti per codice HDL (Hardware Description Language) e strumento per l'astrazione della build per FPGA\/ASIC.\n<li class=\"l\"> SOFA (Skywater Open-source FPGA) \u2014 toolkit di IP FPGA open-source creati usando Skywater PDK e il framework OpenFPGA.\n<li class=\"l\"> openFPGALoader \u2014 strumento per la programmazione di FPGA.\n<li class=\"l\"> LiteDRAM \u2014 IP Core configurabile per FPGA con implementazione di DRAM.    <\/ul>\n<p>In aggiunta, \u00e8 possibile notare il progetto Main_MiSTer, che consente, attraverso la scheda FPGA DE10-Nano collegata a un televisore o monitor, di simulare l'hardware delle vecchie console di gioco e dei computer classici. A differenza dell'esecuzione di emulatori, l'uso di FPGA consente di ricreare l'ambiente hardware originale, su cui \u00e8 possibile eseguire le immagini di sistema e le applicazioni per piattaforme
