Headhunting at professional events is another excellent way to find specialists of the desired level. But here, too, one must act delicately. A director of a product IT company witnessed a failed recruitment attempt of their own specialist.
At an exhibition where the company's head attended with their best employees, an attractive girl became interested in the booth, asked several questions about the product, got to know the specialist, and handed him her business card with a job offer from competitors. And this was witnessed by the company's director! Since then, the company's technical specialists participate in exhibitions much less frequently.
Tag your colleagues in photos on Facebook — help the competitors' headhunter!
Social networks are a modern recruitment method that allows you to contact potential employees directly. However, this opportunity is not always used correctly. Thus, a novice recruiter was interested in the specialists of the medical software development department of a competing company. He managed to find one of the employees of this department on Facebook and — luck! — among personal photos, there was a snapshot from a corporate event where his colleagues were tagged.
Instead of starting a conversation with this person from a distance, the poor hunter sent identical text messages to all people in the photos. Had he approached it differently, he might have had a positive result. However, members of one team, who received the generic message, only became wary, considering it either spam or a provocation. Discussing the situation among themselves, they concluded that this was more likely not an attempt at hunting, but a clever check from management. As a result, none of them responded, and the headhunter simply failed a potentially successful operation.
These cases illustrate the main practices of headhunting that were applied incorrectly.
Professional networking, searching on social media, poaching employees from competing companies — all these work well only when combined with a cautious and diplomatic approach to recruitment. It was precisely due to the failure to adhere to this requirement that the result turned out to be absurd and disappointing.
Profesionālie rekrūteri zina, ka veiksmīgai meklēšanai ir nepieciešams ieguldīt daudz pūļu, izvēlēties piemērotu speciālistu, izveidot ar viņu draudzīgas attiecības, un, pats galvenais, piedāvāt to, dēļ kā viņš būtu gatavs mainīt darba devēju. Radoša pieeja meklēšanā ir pieļaujama, taču tikai tad, ja tā nepārsniedz likumu un ētikas robežas.
