Lansweeper is anticipating the end of the CentOS 7 support cycle, which expires on June 30, and has analyzed the distributions used on 200,000 scanned Linux systems (the exact criteria for selecting the systems for review are not specified, but statistics were likely gathered from systems in the networks of corporate clients using the Lansweeper inventory platform). The most popular distribution was Ubuntu, with a share of 32.24%. In second place was CentOS at 26.05%, followed by Red Hat Enterprise Linux at 20.11%. Debian's share was 7.05%, while Fedora Linux had 2.5%.
A significant percentage was also noted for the Rasbian distribution (4.35%), used on Raspberry Pi boards. Rocky Linux was found on 1.34% of systems, and Oracle Linux on 3.87%. The share of SUSE Linux Enterprise was 1.25%, while openSUSE accounted for 0.07%. Linux Mint was installed on 0.69% of systems, and Astra Linux on 0.02%. Despite the research being focused on Linux, the statistics also included the FreeBSD OS (0.46%).
