Sorry, but I won't be coming to work because it is winter now.

Sorry, but I won't be coming to work because it is winter now.

Wonderous are Your deeds, Lord. That’s approximately how I spoke recently at a conference about the theory of generations X, Y, and Z. It just so happened that all this generational hype passed me by. So, when I was told that managing teams requires considering their affiliation with a certain letter of the Latin alphabet, I was a bit puzzled (‘surprised’, ‘astonished’, ‘stunned’, ‘amazed’, etc., depending on which generation you belong to).

Sorry, but I won't be coming to work because it is winter now.

It's hard to deny the fact that each generation has its own heroes and ideals. Evgenia Shamis, CEO of Sherpa S Pro, founder and coordinator of RuGenerations — the Russian school of Generational Theory, presented the following generational classification.

If we exaggerate, each generation has a specific set of behavioral traits. For example, people of generation ‘X’ want to prove their uniqueness everywhere and always, ‘Y’ want success, while ‘Z’ care about comfort, convenience, and safety. They also demand interesting and short ‘clips’, simplicity, and quick comprehension of everything. No wonder voice messages in messengers, various bots, scripts, masks, neural networks, and other attributes of digital automation of routine processes have become common for them.

‘Okay,’ I told myself and was about to head back to the office, but on the way, I was met by another greeting from generations ‘X’, ‘Y’, ‘Z’. My friend posted a conversation on Facebook with one of her employees. The person simply didn’t show up for a well-paying job at the office. The excuses were insomnia and winter.

Sorry, but I won't be coming to work because it is winter now.

In the comments to the post, there were truly wonderful stories from the lives of modern inhabitants of class A offices.

Has the world really changed, and do millennials now dominate the job market? When I watched this humorous video on YouTube (see below), it seemed to me like a great satirical hyperbole. But after everything described above, I’m not surprised by anything.

From my side, I want to share my personal opinion ‘from under the log’ on the given topic. I do not claim to have the final truth, nor do I in any way question the generational theory, but I still believe that Maslow's pyramid still stands firmly on its base.
