De installatiepakketten zijn voorbereid voor de architecturen x86_64, s390x (IBM System z), ppc64le en Aarch64, maar zijn alleen beschikbaar voor download voor geregistreerde gebruikers van de Red Hat Customer Portal. De bronbestanden van de rpm-pakketten van Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 worden verspreid via de Git-repository van CentOS.    <\/p>\n<p>De 8.x-tak zal minimaal tot 2029 worden ondersteund en wordt ontwikkeld volgens een nieuwe voorspelbare ontwikkelingscyclus, waarbij elke zes maanden op een vooraf bepaalde tijd nieuwe releases worden gevormd. De nieuwe productontwikkelingscyclus van RHEL omvat verschillende niveaus, waaronder Fedora als testgrond voor de implementatie van nieuwe functies, CentOS Stream voor toegang tot pakketten die zijn gemaakt voor de volgende tussentijdse release van RHEL (rolling-variant van RHEL), een minimalistische universele basisafbeelding (UBI, Universal Base Image) voor het uitvoeren van applicaties in
