De 1.21-tak is achterwaarts compatibel op niveau van API en ABI met de versies 1.x en bevat voornamelijk bugfixes en kleine updates van het protocol. Enkele dagen geleden is een correctie-update voor de compositormachine Weston 10.0.1 gevormd, die zich ontwikkelt binnen een aparte ontwikkelingscyclus. Weston biedt code en werkvoorbeelden voor het gebruik van Wayland in desktopomgevingen en embedded oplossingen.      <\/p>\n<p>Belangrijkste wijzigingen in het protocol:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> In de programmeerinterface wl_pointer is ondersteuning toegevoegd voor het evenement wl_pointer.axis_value120 voor uiterst nauwkeurige scrolling op muismanipulators met een hoge resolutie scrollwiel.\n<li class=\"l\"> Er zijn nieuwe functies toegevoegd aan de server: wl_signal_emit_mutable (een variant van wl_signal_emit, die correcte werking ondersteunt wanneer \u00e9\u00e9n signaalhandler een andere handler verwijdert) en wl_global_get_version (maakt het mogelijk de algemene API-versie te achterhalen).\n<li class=\"l\"> De ontwikkeling is overgezet naar het GitLab-platform met gebruik van de infrastructuur van het FreeDesktop.org-project.\n<li class=\"l\"> Er zijn schoonmaak- en herstructureringswerkzaamheden uitgevoerd aan structuren en functies die verband houden met cursorinstellingen.\n<li class=\"l\"> Het wl_shell-protocol is gemarkeerd als optioneel voor implementatie in compositors en is verouderd verklaard. Voor het cre\u00ebren van gebruikersshells wordt het xdg_shell-protocol aanbevolen, dat een interface biedt voor interactie met oppervlakken als vensters, waardoor het mogelijk is om oppervlakken op het scherm te verplaatsen, te minimaliseren, maximaliseren, te schalen, enzovoort.\n<li class=\"l\"> De eisen aan het assemblagesysteem zijn verhoogd; voor de assemblage is nu gereedschap Meson van minimaal versie 0.56 vereist. Bij het compileren is de vlag &#171;c_std=c99&#187; ingeschakeld.                              <\/ul>\n<p>Wijzigingen in applicaties, desktopomgevingen en distributies met betrekking tot Wayland:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> In KDE is het plan om in 2022 de Plasma-desktopsessie op basis van het Wayland-protocol geschikt te maken voor dagelijks gebruik voor een aanzienlijk deel van de gebruikers. De ondersteuning voor Wayland is significantly verbeterd in de uitgaven van KDE Plasma 5.24 en 5.25, waaronder de ondersteuning voor kleurdiepte van meer dan 8-bits per kanaal, is de &#171;DRM leasing&#187;-modus ge\u00efmplementeerd voor virtual reality-headsets, en ondersteuning voor het maken van screenshots en het minimaliseren van alle vensters is verzekerd.\n<li class=\"l\"> In Fedora 36, systems with proprietary NVIDIA drivers use a GNOME session based on the Wayland protocol by default, which was previously only applied when using open drivers.\n<li class=\"l\"> In Ubuntu 22.04, most configurations use a desktop session based on the Wayland protocol by default, but the X-server remains the default for systems with proprietary NVIDIA drivers. A PPA repository is suggested for Ubuntu, containing the qtwayland package from the Qt 5.15.3 branch, which includes fixes related to improving Wayland protocol support, supported by the KDE project.\n<li class=\"l\"> The release of the Sway 1.7 user environment, which uses Wayland, has been published.\n<li class=\"l\"> Wayland support is enabled by default in Firefox nightly builds. Firefox has fixed issues with thread blocking, improved popup window scaling, and ensured the context menu works when checking spelling.
