In de gebruikersomgeving Enlightenment is een kwetsbaarheid ontdekt (CVE-2022-37706) die een niet-bevoorrechte lokale gebruiker in staat stelt om code met root-rechten uit te voeren. De kwetsbaarheid is nog niet verholpen (0-day), maar er is al een exploit beschikbaar die getest is op Ubuntu 22.04. <\/p>\n
Het probleem doet zich voor in het uitvoerbare bestand enlightenment_sys, dat met het suid root-vlag wordt geleverd en via een system() oproep bepaalde toegestane commando's uitvoert, zoals het monteren van een schijf met de mount utility. Door een onjuiste werking van de functie die de string genereert die aan de system() oproep wordt doorgegeven, worden aanhalingstekens uit de argumenten van het uit te voeren commando verwijderd, wat kan worden gebruikt om eigen code uit te voeren. door het verwijderen van dubbele aanhalingstekens, in plaats van het opgegeven commando \u2018\/bin\/mount \u2026 \u00ab\/dev\/..\/tmp\/;\/tmp\/exploit\u00bb \/tmp\/\/\/net\u2019 zal de string zonder dubbele aanhalingstekens \u2018\/bin\/mount \u2026 \/dev\/..\/tmp\/;\/tmp\/exploit \/tmp\/\/\/net\u2019 naar de system() functie worden gestuurd, wat zal leiden tot de afzonderlijke uitvoering van het commando \u2018\/tmp\/exploit \/tmp\/\/\/net\u2019 in plaats van het te verwerken als onderdeel van het pad naar het apparaat. De strings \u00ab\/dev\/..\/tmp\/\u00bb en \u00ab\/tmp\/\/\/net\u00bb zijn gekozen om de argumentcontrole van het mount-commando in enlightenment_sys te omzeilen (het montagetoestel moet beginnen met
