Voor het open besturingssysteem Haiku, dat de idee\u00ebn van BeOS verder ontwikkelt, is er een laag ontwikkeld om compatibiliteit met Wayland te waarborgen, waarmee toolkit en applicaties die dit protocol gebruiken, inclusief applicaties gebaseerd op de GTK-bibliotheek, kunnen worden uitgevoerd. Eerder was er door een andere ontwikkelaar al een initi\u00eble implementatie van de laag voor Haiku voorbereid om compatibiliteit met de Xlib-bibliotheek te waarborgen, waardoor X11-applicaties in Haiku kunnen worden uitgevoerd zonder gebruik te maken van een X-server. De laag is ge\u00efmplementeerd door het emuleren van Xlib-functies door middel van het vertalen van aanroepen naar de hoog-niveau grafische API van Haiku.
