De distributie onderscheidt zich door verhoogde beveiligingsvereisten en is samengesteld met SSP (Stack Smashing Protection) bescherming. Voor het opstarten wordt OpenRC gebruikt, en voor pakketbeheer wordt de eigen pakketbeheerder apk toegepast. Alpine wordt gebruikt voor het maken van offici\u00eble Docker-containerimages en is een onderdeel van het PostmarketOS-project. Opstartbare iso-images (x86_64, x86, armhf, aarch64, armv7, ppc64le, s390x) zijn in zes varianten voorbereid: standaard (207 MB), met een ongepatchte kernel (204 MB), uitgebreid (957 MB), voor <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/prohoster.info\/nl\/vps\/\"   title=\"virtuele machines\" data-wpil-keyword-link=\"linked\"  data-wpil-monitor-id=\"2067\">virtuele machines<\/a> (60 MB) en voor de hypervisor Xen (239 MB).     <\/p>\n<p>In de nieuwe release:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> De Linux-kernel is bijgewerkt naar versie 6.6 (in de vorige versie werd kernel 6.1 geleverd).\n<li class=\"l\"> De versies van de pakketten zijn bijgewerkt, waaronder releases van GCC 13.2, LLVM 17, GNOME 45, LXQt 1.4, KDE Applications 23.08, KDE Frameworks 5.112, Perl 5.38, Xen 4.18, PostgreSQL 16, Node.js 20.10, Ceph 18.2, Go 1.21, OpenJDK 21, PHP 8.3, Erlang 26, Rust 1.72, yggdrasil 0.5, en PipeWire 1.0.0.\n<li class=\"l\"> Ondersteuning voor Raspberry Pi 5 is toegevoegd.\n<li class=\"l\"> Als backend voor iptables wordt standaard het pakket iptables-nft gebruikt.\n<li class=\"l\"> De kernelpakketten voor Raspberry Pi 2 (linux-rpi2) en Raspberry Pi 4 (linux-rpi4) zijn samengevoegd in \u00e9\u00e9n pakket linux-rpi.\n<li class=\"l\"> De directory met Python-pakketten is gemarkeerd als beheerd door een externe tool (het hulpprogramma pip kan geen pakketten meer installeren in de systeemdirectory die beheerd wordt door de pakketbeheerder apk).
