De MySQL Community Server 8.4.0 builds zijn voorbereid voor alle belangrijke Linux-distributies, FreeBSD, macOS en Windows. Uitgave 8.4.0 valt onder de takken met langdurige ondersteuning (LTS), die om de twee jaar worden uitgebracht en vijf jaar worden ondersteund (plus nog eens drie jaar uitgebreide ondersteuning kan worden verkregen).         <\/p>\n<p>MySQL 8.4.0 is de vierde release, gevormd onder het nieuwe model voor het cre\u00ebren van releases, dat twee soorten MySQL-takken omvat \u2014 'Innovation' en 'LTS'. De Innovation-takken, waaronder MySQL 8.1, 8.2 en 8.3, zijn aanbevolen voor degenen die eerder toegang willen hebben tot nieuwe functionaliteiten. Deze takken worden elke 3 maanden gepubliceerd en worden alleen ondersteund tot de publicatie van de volgende belangrijke release (bijvoorbeeld, na de komst van tak 8.4 wordt de ondersteuning voor tak 8.3 be\u00ebindigd). LTS-takken worden aanbevolen voor implementaties waarbij voorspelbaarheid en langdurige consistentie vereist zijn. Na de LTS-tak zal een nieuwe Innovation-tak worden gevormd \u2014 MySQL 9.0.        <\/p>\n<p>Belangrijkste wijzigingen in MySQL 8.4:  <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li class=\"l\"> De optimizer heeft ondersteuning toegevoegd voor automatische histogramupdates, ongeacht het uitvoeren van de operatie 'ANALYZE TABLE' voor de bovenliggende tabel. Deze functies zijn verwijderd in de MySQL 8.3-tak, maar zijn hersteld ter ondersteuning in de LTS-tak van MySQL 8.4.\n<li class=\"l\"> Er zijn 26 kwetsbaarheden verholpen die op afstand konden worden uitgebuit. Het ernstigste probleem heeft een risiconiveau van 6.5 en is gerelateerd aan een kwetsbaarheid in openSSL.
