Kent Overstreet, ontwikkelaar van het Bcachefs-bestandssysteem, heeft een wijziging voorgesteld voor opname in de Linux-kernel 6.11, waarmee Bcachefs de mogelijkheid krijgt voor automatische en transparante herstel van problematische gegevens door gebruik te maken van opgeslagen redundante foutcorrectiecodes. De logica achter de voorgestelde functionaliteit lijkt op de implementatie van een soortgelijke functie in Btrfs: als er een invoer-\/uitvoerfout optreedt of een checksum-ontsporing wordt berekend tijdens het lezen, zal het problematische gegevensblok automatisch opnieuw worden geschreven, mits er redundantie beschikbaar is voor herstel. <\/p>\n

Linus Torvalds heeft de acceptatie van deze wijziging in kernel 6.11 uitgesteld vanwege problemen met de patch-indiening (er was een «git rebase» op een nieuwe tak uitgevoerd, wat niet nodig was) en het bestaan van onbeantwoorde vragen over de wijzigingen die door de patches worden aangebracht buiten het gebied van fs\/bcachefs.
