Bun – is een ECMAScript \/ JavaScript runtime-omgeving die in veel opzichten vergelijkbaar is met nodejs<\/a>. Bun is gebaseerd op JavaScriptCore<\/a> van Apple, maar Bun zelf en veel van zijn modules zijn geschreven in de programmeertaal zig<\/a>. Bun streeft ernaar zo compatibel mogelijk te zijn met nodejs als het gaat om commandoregelopties, ondersteunt ECMAScript-modules (ESM) en CommonJS. Het pakketbeheer npm en ondersteuning voor typescript<\/a> zijn ingebouwd als native code, en programma's in typescript kunnen direct door de interpreter worden uitgevoerd zonder voorafgaande configuratie.<\/p>\n

Toch is Bun niet zomaar een «kopie» van nodejs als het gaat om mogelijkheden. Naast snellere prestaties in verschillende scenario's (beginnende bij het opstarten van de applicatie) en bijna volledige ondersteuning van de beschikbare nodejs API, biedt Bun uitgebreide mogelijkheden voor serverapplicaties – van het werken met bestanden tot het transformeren van HTML-bomen (HTMLRewriter<\/a>), een typescript-transpiler module (Bun.Transpiler<\/a>), ingebouwde databasefunctionaliteit sqlite<\/a>, modules voor interactie met native bibliotheken van het platform via de C-taal API – ffi<\/a>, ingebouwde testtools<\/a> en een scala aan andere mogelijkheden.<\/p>\n

Bovendien ondersteunt Bun in experimentele modus de integratie met C-code via transparante aanroepen tcc<\/a>:<\/p>\n
